Hi Guys
I was wondering if anyone could offer any guidance I'm having on my 2006 E320cdi V6. (85,000m FMBSH)
It doesn't happen from cold and doesn't happen when hot - this only happens when the car is started from warm, say after parking up - doing the weekly shop and coming back out and starting.
If I drive along in slow moving traffic at 1100rpm, 20mph approx, I experience a very slight stuttering / hesitation / kangarooing. I can accelerate without issue, full force kickdown with no hesitation and experience no other issues. Happens in S or C transmission modes, but as mentioned, only occurs after a warm start and only if I maintain about 1100rpm / 20mph (say - slow moving traffic)
Lasts for about 5mins and then normal ops restored.
STAR analysis recently revealed no faults.
Any guidance greatly appreciated.
Thanks:wallbash:

Theres a few of these reports with the v6.

It could be one of many things but identical to what has happened with mine. In say 15000 miles, its happened 3 times to me.

I have been told its probably the turbo/actuator and if the car has had a tame life then the vanes can sieze up causing the stutter iirc.

Have an indie lube it and do this on a regular basis and make sure the car is driven well, its a high performance diesel and pottering around does not do it much good... it needs a good run every now and then.

Hi MobyOne
Thanks again.
Just to clarify - I've just double checked a few minutes ago and the car does it in Neutral as well, so not at all related to driving or road speed.
Left the car after a drive, parked up and came out 30mins later and presto! it's happening. 1100rpm mostly and sometimes up to about 1500rpm - has all the appearance of a misfire.
5 mins running or 3-4 good revs and it's gone.
As mentioned, it doesn't happen from cold or when hot, just if it's been left for a while and re-started.
I understand it's had mostly motorway driving in its last ownership but may have sat for a while before me buying.
Also, contrary to the thread name, it's more of a stutter than a judder.
Thanks

It does sound like the actuator, I would have your turbo looked at.

Have you had the fuel filter/air filter changed? Never heard of this to happen in neutral?

Thanks Moby - I'll get it looked at.
By the way, what's 'iirc' short for ?

Thanks again

If I remember correctly:)

The actuator can be repaired I think, there's a couple of places that can do it but find a good indie and have them take a good look at it, the inlet shut off valve might also be a culprit but it needs further investigation.

Keep us posted.

Hi Mobyone - will do.
By the way, do you know how to lube the actuator and if so, would you be able to give me any guidance?
I'm just off an IL5 E270, so underbonnet location of components still a learning experience.
Thanks

Local indie did mine and from what I saw was the cross pipe was removed and an oil in a can was sprayed into the turbo, left to run and then driven steady/hard.

You could always phone mbtech in Warrington as it was them who did it.

Best of luck)

My E320 cdi is doing exactly this, I need to get my post count up to 30 to be able to view the fix though....

Does anyone know if there is a way round this please?
You do not need 30 posts to view links only to send or receive personal messages or post adverts.

The link as posted takes you to a list of sections on the Forum rather than to the actual thread.

Sorry to revive an old thread but my car is doing the same thing and the link no longer works. Any idea what it was??
