A friend of mine was interested in the car, even after the poor feedback that has already been left for the car, Id have done a deal with him for the kit. The state its in its worth £1500-2000 (£2k if the gasket had been done). My mate emailed the guy and offered £2000 if the gasket was done.

The reply was "this is one off AMG customised car and besides I dont do business with 10 feedback or less."

The guy is having a laugh if he thinks its worth the money he is asking for it. It needs thousands spent on it.

Its got the AMG kit, but the wheels have been replaced with those cheepies.
The aftermarket davia air con, probably isnt working and is not the easiest system to source parts for, since they went bust.
As for the AMG suspension, its the sportline setup.
He mentions AMG powerchip?? AMG didnt do a remap of any kind for the 320 engine.
And just look at the engine bay, that air filter housing looks like it was taken off an escort!
Half the paint on the rocker cover is missing, which would suggest its been overheated.

I think the chap needs to come back down to earth, I told my mate to walk away. As much as Id have like the kit, the car is a dog.

Some people don't take care of these cars like they should, or add useless bits of tat like alleged cool air induction kits which blatantly aren't. Some owners don't understand that buyers of these old cars are enthusiasts and know the value of looked after vehicles. I think he is being very enthusiastic with the price considering the state you say that car is in. Would a more realistic price be around 1250 to 1500 quid mark?

to be fair though, that is a complete AMG kit... Bumpers, Skirts and Spoiler would fetch £1K removed from the car surely?

Those wheels are shocking ....

Remember , it's got an AMG 'power chip' ;)

This very car was for sale about a year & a half ago on autotrader... If memory serves me correct it was up for around 27-2800 quid... seems to be in the same area (Kent) this time aswell. I too would have liked it for the kit, but not at that price.

Very true. If not more

99.9% of W124 owner will not spend £1k on a kit.

Most W124s aren't worth alot, and on the other end of the scale people keep the cars concours. Which leaves the inbetween chaps, and £1k is optimistic.

I have been on the lookout for a kit now for about 18 months, for my Cabriolet, i would have to agree with KLP that most W124s are not worth alot now, obviously Cabs are an exception to the rule (even rough LHD/manual transmission ones are still bound to be priced up around the 5k mark), I would say that im one of those 'inbetween chaps' that he describes, & im afraid 1k is too much money for one of these kits (for me anyway!).

If its 1k for a used kit ,you also have to budget for paint & fitting, maybe some repair work (style 2 front spoilers are prone to being cracked/scuffed), maybe a cracked foglight (big money). Basically you could end up spending close to another 1k getting the kit fitted/painted properly.

Remember with a AMG kit your car will also need the wheels to go with it...& the suspension...& the exhaust...& you get my drift!

I get the feeling I may be waiting alot longer.....

That was the guy who had it before this bloke, at the time it didnt have the gasket issue, so was worth the money.

Id pay £1k for a complete kit, but I dont think Id get £1500 back for that car without it.

oh yeh, the car is only worth 1500 ish max and only worth the punt if you have a use for the kit..
Sp!ke spent ages looking for a duck tail spoiler and in the end got the wrong one... they are very rare for the coupe!

I love the old skool wooden Nokia :)

I used to have one of those with the original Nokia wood cover, in fact I think I still have it in my desk drawer... Nokia 2110i rocks :o

That engine bay is a mess. As a Coupe owner it angers me to see it in so much dissaray.

a mess? you ain't wrong. i like the freestyle red wire running over the top of the rad. turning the key is more likely to start a fire than the engine...
p

Didnt get a bid this time round, which is odd, it got to £2500 last time. I think someone might be bumping the bids themselves....

There is no one on the planet that would pay any more than 1500ish for the car, its just not worth it... its a shame as if someone put some decent wheels on and sorted the engine it would be a nice car..

It would be a similar car to mine, but it needs a huge amount of TLC. It would be worth doing, but I suspect the bodywrok wants ££'s spent too. I hate seeing these cars in such a state, my wallet found out the hard way that restoring isnt always economical.
