The glow plug light on my E320cdi has started to remain on once the engine is going. It goes out after a few minutes. Doesn't seem to matter if the engine is warm or cold. Is this a sign that the glow plugs are due for replacement (car has done approx 108k), or an electical problem? The car starts and runs absolutely fine.

Hey, my E320cdi started doing this recently too! I must say I just attributed it to the cold weather - as it goes out after a couple of minutes, I decided it probably wasn't something to worry about. Would appreciate it if someone else has an opinion!

Thanks,

Not sure my problem is quite the same, as there is no problem starting the car, and I haven't noticed it running any differently. Driving London to Brum yesterday, I averaged 42 mpg, which is as good as I've ever got from it. My previous car, a C220cdi, needed new glow plugs when I bought it with 99k on the clock, so I would not be surprised if they are due for replacement.

Same prob on my 250 TD, a new set of glow plugs cured it. It drove and started fine before i changed them, but the light has stopped comig on after the vehicle has been started now.

its a warning light to tell you glow plugs are on the way out change soon otherwise if another fails car will not start if very cold
