E55 vs E63

It's worth posting any ad you see for a car on here. If it looks very promising but is miles away someone on here will often be happy to go and have a look at it. The offers you get are from Mercedes Enthusiasts too so you get a good idea if it is worth the trip in the first place.

Hi all I'm new to the forum and also to Mercedes. Im looking to get a w211 E55 but am struggling to find a nice low mileage example so Im looking at a w211 E63. Is there much difference in performance as I have driven a E55 and it was brutal!

Mate if you are interested I am considering selling my saloon as am looking to move house currently...

Car is 2006 '56' in obsidian black with 38k on the clock with full dealer history...
Tier 1 Warranty till September 2014
Best kept & looking example in the country or your money back

Actually as everyone is into cars on here they wouldn't feel put out they would really enjoy it. The more you are on the forum the more you will pick up in what a nice crowd it is. Not guaranteeing someone would offer as it might not be near anyone but you would also get a general feel from the crowd about the car. What to look for. Price, etc, etc.

was funny because I was the one who did a 7 hour round trip to see it, spent over £100 on fuel and after having to point out each and every problem with the car that was conveniently missed off the advert HE was the one with the ump!!

Could have been worse - if you'd done the journey in the E55/E63 it would have cost even more

You will never find a facelift E55K as it became the E63 at facelift. All E55Ks have SBC unless it has been removed by the owner.

I understood that MB dropped the SBC system late in the production run of the E55K. Do you know for a fact that this is not so? If so, before 'understood' insert 'mis'...

I've been keeping a pretty close eye on them out here, mainly from Japan, and even those late model E55's have the SBC.

The SBC system was dropped with the introduction of the W211 facelift (July 2006) which was the same time the E63 was introduced.

FWIW, mine's a late Nov '05 E55k, and has SBC.

SBC only removed when facelift came out.

Therefore, all 211 55Ks have SBC.

Spent alot of money and looked after it very well, near enough everything has been looked after by Mercedes even the battery was replaced by them couple of months ago.

However I am willing to do a deal because I'v seen a replacement and obviously I need to sell before I can buy.

Mileage isn't everything.

Buying off a forum member with over 500 posts is something well worth thinking about.

As you've just joined you won't know what a genuine, helpful, nice bunch are on here.

I guarantee if you pass it up in a month you'll be kicking yourself.

A seller on the net may have scruples or may not. There is more of a safety net buying on here.
