Hi, My car is currently overdue for a service D after it has been parked in my garage for couple months. Can someone tell me what exactly is a service D and what is it involve?

Also......

Could someone advice on which spark plugs to get and where to get them from?

Also

Could someone tell me where I can get hold of the OEM Supercharger Belt, as cant find them on ebay nor i know the part number for it:doh::doh::doh:

thanks:o:o:o

Service D is just an estimate of time required to complete work according to the service schedule. You need to go into the service menu on the dash and see what it is asking for. It will list 1,3,8,9 for example which correspond to additional service items such as brake fluid change, spark plugs, gearbox fluid, fuel filter etc.

The Supercharger belt is A1139970192 and available fron Inchcape for £16.09. I purchased one last week.

V BELT SL500 AM - E Class 1985 - 1994 E250D - Mercedes-Benz Parts, Inchcape

The best value are Bosch spark plug. The cheapest I could find were on ECP with the discount.

Input your car details here

Mercedes-Benz ESS

Plugs from any reputable motor factors or MB (check prices) and s/c belt from MB

Think the D service is as follows, but really depends on your car and mileage to be honest

Oil and Filter change
Cabin and engine Air Filters
checking all fluids and chassis

Note with Mercedes and others, you can supply your own oil so that will save you a bit

I have an original 55 amg belt that was on my car for a couple of weeks so still like new, if you send me a pm, I can let you have it cheap, or if you are local I can fit, takes 2 mins, again I also have a set of uprated NGKs done less than 200 miles great upgrade for the 55 engine.

thanks billy and white, both information are very useful. we get stuff ready myself, then possibly take it somewhere local, as possible nothing too technical it seems..

Could anyone provide me with the part ID for the supercharger belt? And which spark plugs I need? many thanks

Sorry Vilus, I somehow missed this reply.:doh::doh::doh: Thanks for the instruction too, all sorted!! for now..:bannana::bannana:

just check the item list on the fss menu. its showing 1,3,4,6,13,15 and gas analysis. what are these means?:doh:

1. Visual Inspection of Car
3. Engine Oil + Filter
4. Brake Fluid change (1.5 hours + 2ltrs fluid with SBC)
6. Dust Filter
13. Coolant change + analysis
15. Towbar where fitted.

If you decide to do any additional items at the same time, you select the corresponding number from the Additional Items below the Service Items and add it to the service menu. Then when you reset and confirm the service has been done it will not ask for that additional item until it is due again, ( ie. Spark Plugs 4 years/50K miles)

Brake fluid best left to a specialist, and i do not mean someone without star:eek:

Why? Changing it with star can be the kiss of death with higher mileage cars as it runs the pump for long periods ( I have learnt ).

Isn't it so if not done using STAR the SBC reservoir isn't flushed of old fluid?

+1:thumb:
That's what I thought, and after witnessing the guys at PCS doing mine its not a rag and old baked bean tin affair either.

I was amazed as its star telling the guys what to do and when.

ok, will possibly leave the that to the specialist, as the car is aging and don't see much a point to keeping it full stealer service history. Will the the oil, filters and spark plugs done locally by the guy who been serviced my sti and evo for years. Then the rest will take it somewhere special.

Do you mean accumulator? We remove and clean the reservoir then fill with fresh fluid. I am not saying I do not use star to carry out the fluid change. I have a testing meter for the fluid and generally after 2 years it does not need changing on most vehicles.
As for the baked bean can it works well!

The baked bean tin reference was meant for the OP, what i was trying to get across to the OP was that this is a more complex system than you would find on an older less technical system.

The warning was if in doubt especially something important as a braking system then my advice was to take it to someone who knows what they are doing being either an MB main dealer or MB indie.

I absolutely agree.
