In light of MatB's experience with MPSS tyres, just gauging the latest experience of tyres for these cars from respective owners?

I've run 3 sets of MPS2 tyres now since I binned the budgets that came with mine.

OK I'm happy with them but are there any cheaper alternatives that do the figures on these?

Michelin, good years , pirellis are good but wear too fast, in that order

Haven't had enough experience yet of changing tyres on my E55, but I'm more than happy so far with the Falkens already fitted.

I use Vredestein ultrac on mine, had them on the M5 too

Good tyre, good grip decent wear

I've had 2 sets of Vredestein sessanta's on mine John and rate them pretty highly and not too bad on price either. I'm on the look out now for some new tyres for my new set of 19" wheels, but fancy a change this time and I'm leaning towards Goodyear's.

I have run the Falken 452,s and the newer 453s on various rear wheel drive cars, and I think it would be a good tyre to look at mate, and I will be fitting some when the time comes. certainly rate them higher than some of the more common brands.

Have to agree had Falkens fitted to my 280, very good tyre, not due yet on my 55, conti fitted at the moment, newish rears, fronts need changing later this year but would definately give them a go.

I'm on P Zero's at the moment and quite like them.

When I got the car it had some fairly new Conti SP3's on the back and some budget rubbish on the front.

Needed to replace a rear prematurely thanks to some idiot, so took the opportunity and replaced all 4 with the Pirellies.

Grip at the front is much improved of course, although it was always going to be. I can't really comment more as I don't have a decent comparison.

On the back though, the Pirelli's are so much better than the Conti SP3's. I used to suffer from quite a lot of wheel spin getting on the power, but that's all gone. ESP used to cut in all the time so much I turned it off a lot of the time. With the Pirelli's I rarely notice it trying to stop any spin.

They get my vote.

Falkens seem to be a lot cheaper.

I might give them a punt and see how they work out.

Was considering Good Year Eagle Asymmetric F1s as quite a few people have found them to be good.

I've not tried Falken's myself but they do seem well rated. I was going to go for them but went for Vredestein sessanta's instead as similar sort of price and got good reviews too. I spoke with the guys at 'wheels in motion' fairly recently and they rated the sessanta's over the Falken's in both the 452 and 453 variants and they sell all of them. I know it shouldn't matter but the Vredestein's look nice too:D

But after all that as said before I fancy a change this time on my 19's and think I'm going for Goodyear eagle f1's, but not sure whether to go for the original asymmetric or asymmetric 2. The original f1 comes in Mercedes spec, not what difference that makes:dk:

I had Goodyear F1 A2 on my 981 Boxster .. excellent tyres. Quiet, grippy and did not wear too fast.

last time I checked, there was the size for my CLS55 but not the load rating (on the rear).

Falkens are great tyres, but try the ZE912's or the newer 914's rather than the 452's which have the dreaded V pattern tread that can make the car pull to the left more and be quite noisy.

^ For some reason the previous owner of my E55 fitted 453's to the front and ZE914's on the rear. Neither are the "V" pattern.
