Was just looking at some snaps of E60 AMG's and 500E 124's on the net and was thinking to myself, hummmm my car would look great with them wings and back quarters:devil: but would they fit?, i know i would have to put spacers on the wheels to bring them out inline with the wings and all that:eek: but can i get them on the car without having to butcher them? . Any one got any thoughts on this?

The front wings are a straight-swap with basically any W124. The rears are easy: buy the repair arches and have the sections cut out of your car's rear quarter panels then the new ones welded in and then painted.

I did read that something like the roof and the front doors were the only bodywork panels that were shared with the model it was based on so I suppose other bits would need to be modified slightly to make it all fit together.

You would probably have to fit the 500E sportline bumper which is slightly wider at the front so the wings look "in place".

The 500E wings themselves are very rare, although i'm pretty sure you can purchase duplicate, replica more lightweight copies off the internet. In regards to the 500E, the whole car is slighty wider and longer compared with other W124's so some other parts maybe different to those found on your car.

Good luck with the conversion if you decide to go ahead.

Forget about butchering the car, the parts alone will cost you over £2-3k. Combine that with approx £2k at the bodyshop = not worth it.

I love modifying cars, and have considerd this mod but couldn't justify the cost. If i was to buy second hand parts you'd still be looking at £1500+ and the prob with that is you'd never find the complete kit.

Go to http://mobile.de/

search under E500, 489 500Es appear, starting at about £4k.

Much cheaper than trying to build your own...
