You think that is bad I can see a lot of shops closing:-

Old Subscription Fee for a Basic Shop
£6.00 per month

New Subscription Fee for a Basic Shop
£14.99 per month

Approx Increase - 149.8%

How can they justify it!!

They don't have to justify it. It's called a monopoly. Where else will sellers go?

I dont sell on eBay anymore.. I shifted some motorcycle gear I had just a spare set of leathers and some boots.. eBay and Paypal took over £40 from me!!

As most of my crap is either car or motorcycle parts.. I find the best place is on the owners club sites now..

Same as you guys are saying it is a rip-off,there are loads of other auction sites out there but it is getting punters to start using them.
This is quite a big one and you don't pay if your item does not sell.

Yeap, I don't sell on eBay anymore either. The eBay fee prices along with PayPal fees make selling too "expensive"...Rather just keep the stuff!

I use eBay and have around 8-10 listings on constantly, I actually sell very little directly through it, but it drives a lot of traffic to my website and customers through the door.

Paypal is compulsory to list, but most of my customers actually come and see me and pay there and then.

I will go to any lengths to avoid taking Paypal. I recently had a chargeback processed against me, Paypal said they were defending it.....they sent a debt collection firm after me before the dispute had even been resolved.

Fortunately the firm they use (NCO) is not a bailiff, and has no legal powers to collect the money Paypal say I owe, they rely on bullying and a fear your credit history will be tarnished, which it can't. So I have great delight in telling them to pi$$ off.....

Trouble with that site & other ebay rivals (& increasingly ebay too) is that 90% of the listings are from a couple of big motor factors who have page after page after page of different springs or brake pads or filters.

I just can't be ****d to wade through them all looking for quirky, interesting stuff.

i hate eBay. However, if you want to auction items online, then it really is the only place to sell. Every other site is a waste of time - not because they arnt any good - its because the buyers dont go there and its a waste of time even listing items that may get 10 hits in a month and might get 1 bid at the start amount. Sell the same item on ebay and it will sell for 10 times the price!!

I don't bother selling on there anymore (not that I used to sell much), but I still buy ofrom time to time - but I am being put off by the new search facilities etc!
I tend to use freecycle to get rid of stuff - it's a lot less hassle.

all monopolies behave badly eventually .. but if they overprice, they risk pricing themselves out of business or encouraging new providers.

I'm doing a carboot on Sunday! :D No silly p+p charges and packing for me!

The only problem with that is you have to deal with the great unwashed...and haggle....all rather unpleasant...
