I have a fairly annoying friend who is keeping track of everything I buy on eBay, and then bugging me about it! So I decided to set my feedback to private...

While its stopped him from looking down my feedback list for what I've bid on, it still allows him to do a search for my username in the advanced search icon (show complete listings) and track down anything I've bought...

Any ideas how to hide that?

Get a new username?

How did he find out to start with?

Annoying, but not much else you can do really.

I thought of getting a new username, but I like my feedback :p (414, 100%)

As for finding out, its not hard... He's a good friend, and whenever he sees me with a new gadget/toy that is a bit unusal he tends to notice it.

Doing a quick search for completed listings on the unusual item and looking at the high bidders isn't hard, which then gives me away :p

That, and that I use Spinal (in one form or another) just about everywhere I go :D

Tell him to leave you alone, if He's a good friend He will...unless He's some form of stalker or something.

Or alternatively put the gadget to one side or out of sight and diplomatically change the subject.

LoL... hes a good friend, but he also has a very queer character :p He loves teasing me (just as I love teasing him, I went to the same high school and college together, so I know him well)

I guess new account it is! I wonder how many accounts I'll open before he gets tired of finding what my latest account's name is :p

Perhaps one of us could put a listing up for

"Do you have an annoying friend who keeps searching ebay for stuff you have bought - this e-mail guide will help you solve the problem. Various solutions are proposed, if this does not solve the problem we can arrange to send the boys around."

Then you could bid on it.

I LOVE that idea!

Problem: I wonder, if someone other than me DOES win (and I have a queer feeling he's going to bid some ridiculous amount, just to make me pay the fees) I'll need to supply the guide! :p

I'll put the listing up monday, hopefully I'll get some more ideas by then ;)

Remember if he bids and wins, he'll have to pay you though. ;)

not needed.

just print out this thread. He will, or should get the message then, and he will have paid for it too.

Hmm he's a queer character.....The only valid excuse for his behaviour is if He has some form of OCD......

My personal take, he probably likes you more than you realise, people have a strange way of showing affection:-) Front it out, otherwise it won't stop, but do it in a nice way:-)

Now of course, if by queer you mean he's batting for the opposition (which I don't think you do) than it's a different conversation altogether;)

you can change your username maybe ?

I think I'll print that one comment out and show him that - might be all I need! He's a good friend, and from what I know, he doesn't lean that way... but I think he'll get a kick out of these comments! Auction going up soonish :D

Is there a way to do that?

Like Roy Walker says in Catchphrase....Say what you see...and that's what I see:p

yep you can do that go into my account left hand box and then find personal information and you will see your user id, account type and password (but not seen) and you can change your user id name from here

but there is a problem doing this say your current user is ebay and your new one is ebay2 until the changed username icon doesnt disapear from your id if the person scans your feedback or name it will link it back to ebay2 unless the icon is gone !

Got it done! ***** no longer exists on ebay, and searching for it seems to throw up a "user doesn't exist".

Perfect! Now lets see how long it takes him to find it!
