Economy in 300 E-24V engined cars

Thanks for that info, must be quite a rare option, I have always come across the 70 litre tank. 90 litres of fuel must weigh quite a bit!

That does sound very good MPG I manage to get 18-20 to work and back. On a run of say 200 miles I can easily achieve 30 MPG

That is the 24v I can't remember what the 12v was...

Over 33k miles I averaged 24 mpg in my 300CE-24 with an absolute best of 31 mpg out of a tank. The 320 is around 12% better at 27mpg over the past 31k miles (5 speed box) with a best of 35 mpg.

Worst ever tankfulls were 16 and 18. (I won't weary you with the 2 decimal places!)

So, I'm sorry, I'm with the others - come back again after a few thousand miles brimming to brimming.

(Incidently, being an anally retentive Scot, I see that back in the 70s, my 1300cc, 64 bhp Renault 5TS gave 32 mpg over approx 20k miles.)

I topped up the car in Sunbury to the brim yesterday with Shell optimax

Do you mean Shell V-Power (99 RON)? AFAIK that replaced Optimax (98 RON) a while back. That would certainly help though ... I've definitely noticed improved mpg on a long run with V-Power in the Sharan.

But I will ask again, what does the handbook give for the extra-urban consumption? IIRC that's done at an average 56 mph.

Bill,

It must have been v-power because it was very expensive!

On saturday i filled up with a tesco high Ron fuel in southampton as recommended by the previous owner:) .

I did fill up with normal Jet branded fuel today so will probably not get decent economy around town during the week.

So what economy did you get on the trip from Southampton?

  Not very good!

You know that old saying: "Drive it like you stole it!" ?

Need I say more? ;)

Kj I need to ruin your fuel economy  :D When was it you said you were bringing it over?

He is good at it - trust me! Now what speed in 2nd Ian? :D

Thats VERY good mpg...abit of disbelief from me but then I guess I wasn't driving, so nice one mate!

...I achieved 37mpg in my 525i when I collected it and bought it home, which was a 70 mile motorway run.

we ran out of road in 3rd. Private road naturally.

And for the disbelievers Gollom was sat beside me.

What car is this in ? 97 in 2nd ?

We started at standstill. Box in "S" Counted one change and as it went into 3rd we clocked the speed. As we backed off it then went into top gear.

Don't ask me - I had my eyes closed in terror!

Seriously, he is correct. I was there! Just don't tell Mrs. Gollom - it's her car
