ECU Remapping

For anyone that's looking to get their ECU Remapped I have just had my E320CDI done by a company called Torquing BHP Ltd and I must say the service was excellent as is the quality of the remap itself, I now have bags more torque, the engine is more responsive and runs smoother at any speed. Power has been increased from 224BHP to 278BHP and Torque from 510Nm to 624Nm. Fuel economy appears to be up slightly also but not sure by how much as I keep booting the car about at the moment as the novelty has not worn off yet. Total cost of the remap was £450+vat (Usually £499 but they gave me a discount when I mentioned this forum) (DMS wanted £850+vat)
The company is based in Cambridge but they came out to me in Essex at no additional cost, the work took approx 2 hours to complete and did not involve removing the ECU from the circuit board it was all done from a laptop. Speak to Darrell at Torquing BHP he can be contacted on 08456 442 321 or www.torquingbhp.co.uk.

Because you've opened and closed the formatting before the actual text.

BOLD

isn't the same as

BOLD

open the formatting syntaxt using B then type the text, then close the formatting /B.

hopefully you can see the method not just the effect

Didn't think you could do formatting in the 'subject' anyway??

That sounds like a great improvement. Have the before and after figures been rolling road verified or are they based on estimates from Tourqing BHP?

Bold, bold or bald

Ahh, it doesn't work on the title..

This sounds like a G tech job, dont you think?

The figures are from Torquing BHP but I have no reason doubt them, there is a noticable improvement all round especially mid range.

We could've done with a before and after figure really as we could then work out the improvement over standard figures.

Can the Gtech read a diesel engine Rpm as there is no spark?

Just did a search and found this so.."Yes, MSD Ignitions and even DIESELS work"

I didnt know what a 'Gtech' was so I did a search on google to find out; now what I don't understand is the connection between my engines performance and a carpet sweeper:D www.greytechnology.co.uk

It seems to be that DMS are quite expensive nowadays compared to smaller outfits. £800 and upwards for a remap seems too much when a lot of companies can do it nearer to £500.

dms claims are among the best though for my engine

Hmm..Claims are one thing, reality is another.

It's easy to extract more torque from a turbo diesel engine, just up the fuelling until the stoichiometric ratio is reached. You will have bags of extra power at the expense of more smoke and much higher EGT readings.

I would not chip any turbo diesel without knowing the EGT after the enhancement.

In theory this is why Celtic/Torquing/DMS maps are "better" than the plug-in tuning boxes - they are able to affect boost and other parameters rather than just increasing the injector stroke.

It would be good to see some real tests, including safety and longevity parameters (like EGT), to know which route(s) are a safe way to more power.

Also (Dieselman?) what effect do the changes have on the particle filter systems on the EU4 cars?

what should be the target EGT?
