Hi Folks

New here please be gentle!

I have just have the week from hell trying to get my EGR sorted. Initially the car was in limp mode and the inlet motor flap needed replacement according to STAR, this cured the limp but massively increased the smoking, the indie discovered a ball bearing in one of the vacuum hoses effectively choking the EGR. After an assurance that an EGR cleanup would fix the problem it hasn't....I'm now looking at a £520 new EGR plus 2 hours labour unless I can find a decent recon unit. I am really struggling to find the part and was hoping someone could point me to a trusted source. On page 8 of my google search and ebay no good! :wallbash:

Try Dronsfield or Euromerc for the parts if you want to replace it BUT I would look for Dieselman's thread on EGR delete mod, a small electrical mod that should save you haing to replace the EGR. Is the electrical connector to the transducer connected? What errors do you have in STAR?

I am wondering how the ball bearing got there? Has someone tried deleting the EGR I wonder

STAR pointed to the EGR and inlet port (motor now replaced). The mod keeps the valve closed but unfortunately due to the pitting from the coke up it appears the valve is leaking. I looked at Euromerc but the site looked really ropey and no phone number so it put me off! Have you used them?

I have bought from Nick at Euromerc with no problems, some have had delays, there are threads you can read up on and make your mind up.

I looked for a long time on ebay and in the end got one from a forum member but never fitted it as I cured my fault, was bought more as a precaution as they were hard to get hold of. I will have a look and see if I still have it

That would be helpful...I have even considered buying the unit second and having it reconditioned but cant find a suitable engineering place....it's got to be cheaper than a dealer!
