Car
S203 C220 CDI
driving up the a19 after filling her up from practically empty and i decide to floor it for a bit... get up the revs and then i get all manner of lights and the

el power control
EPC
contact workshop...

the lights all flash for a bit the engine dies, so i turn it over and it starts again, just to pull into a layby and phone the mercedes specialist.. who said it might be a blocked CAT

however i start her up again and manage to sit at 65 all the way home (10 miles) with no repeat of the error

after reading on here i'm hoping its just a fuel filter... but if it's not, anywhere i can get a cheap CAT? i know euro car parts have one for about £460ish.. but i was wondering if there was a breakers somewhere?

i'm still praying that it's just a fuel filter.

and whats the deal with el power control.. is my mercedes mexican all of a sudden. :)

We bought a c220 cdi which has a cheap nasty cat on, it makes the car sound awful as the metal is so so thin, ruins the drive IMO.

We as a garage would rather cat delete than cheap cat.

But do replace your fuel filter first, before doing anything.:thumb:

Diagnosis over the phone or internet is impossible to get 100% correct, a £10 fuel filter is worth a punt though.

We see this fault code with faulty injectors too.

Just remove the insides of the cat. It is not an MOT fail either.

Lance - I had exactly the same symptoms on my W210 - Olly changed the fuel filter and that fixed it.

Changed the fuel filter, drove around 50 miles @65... No bother decided to put my foot down near home and

It happened again, going back on Monday now... But as you can imagine I'm in a foul mood :-(

Is it easy to do, and if I ask the mechanic to do it, is he going to look at me funny?
