Hi,

So today i changed my stereo and put an aftermarket carplay in. First the rear driver door electric stopped working so have to open manually and close manually and now the passenger side rear sliding door electric is not working and has to be opened and closed manually.

Could this have been caused by the carplay i have had installed? What fixes could there be?

Ive made a little video to show:

Pull fuses 27 & 28 on F34, and then re insert.

While setting up your new system you have probably reduced the battery voltage. But keep an eye on the voltage anyway.

Thanks for that. Taking the fuses out and back in worked a treat, just wondering if i should replace the battery and which one i should get? Thank you so much for your help, really means alot as i do taxis and needed it working.

Have the battery tested for capacity under load. I am assuming that the alternator is producing the correct voltage? (around 14.2 to 14.4 V)

Any good quality battery (Bosch, Yuasa etc) will be fine. Sometimes Mercedes are competitive on battery prices, especially a Mercedes Commercial dealer or look online at the Tayna website.

I like ECP for batteries, just for the ease of returning under guarantee.

But tbh I would see if the doors forget they are electric again, that's v often due to low voltage.
It may just be that the new audio caused significant voltage drop, and as long as you don't sit there with it on while waiting for at the airport, for instance, you might be alright.
But even a new battery might suffer in that scenario, these aftermarket audio systems can take a lot of juice.

Thanks. Mines a 2011 W639. Not sure what batteries in now but i was thinking to get a bigger one in 019 rather than 017? Also what is AGM? Are they better?

TIA

Check your VIN decode to see if it is designed to have an AGM. The charge voltage is a tad higher.

I run with an Exide 100Ah, 900CCA wet battery in the Viano.

If you have space then you can fit a higher capacity battery, ie one with a higher CCA rating.

Search online for AGM batteries for further. info.
