I am changing the coolant in the engine, W210 E280, can anyone tell me how much and what spec to use. Merc want £7 bottle and say i need roughly 4 bottles. Would be nice to know the correct qty. Also how much brake fluid to do a complete change. Thanks.

Hello, long time no see, (me that is...)

Mine's a 240 v6, so not identical to yours but similar enough.

From memory I used 2 bottles of coolant. Note that you dilute the MB coolant before use - 50% IIRC. I raised the rear of the car and used the drain tap under the rad.

I bought 1 tin of brake fluid and used it all. I could have got away with about 3/4 of the tin but as it needs to be disposed of after opening you may as well use the lot and be sure that all the old stuff is out. (I can highly recommend a Gunsons pressure bleeder which costs about £12 and makes it a one-man one-hour job.)

Cheers,

I have a man that can, doing the work, but I am supplying the materials as I get a discount for MBClub membership.

You really should get the old coolant from the block as well as the rad which nickmann did not do.

On the 104 engine there is an outlet under the exhaust manifold that empties the block and associated items.

Yes and from memory the block drain accounted for about half of the total that drained out.
