Engine diagnostics light?

Hi all,

I have a w211 270d e-class, was driving today and while driving, the yellow engine diagnostics light came on in the instrument cluster. I stopped car and switched off, switched on, it was still on, then after a few minutes it is now gone.

Light is gone now, should I get this checked out?

Get the codes read, as there is obviously a problem. Best to deal with it before it becomes a real problem.

Some dealers and Independants will do it for free, others charge between £30 and £50.

How much fuel was in the tank when the light came on?

there was slightly less than 1/4 full petrol.

I would not worry about it for now, silly things like a little contamination of the LAMBDA can put it on, when the car is running OK the light can indicate that something has deviated from their stored setting, and sometimes these thing go away as easily as they came

Either the car ran out of fuel or there is a fault.
