2012 Mercedes W212 E350CDi V6 Sport
Have noticed over the last week that sometimes the car seems to feel like its misfiring or juddering. It does it when its in gear and if its in Park so hopefully not gearbox related. No warning lights on the dash. If you switch off and turn on, problem goes way.

Any ideas on what this is?

UPDATE: This is now happenning all of the time... Any views??

I wonder if it could be the torque converter clutch material getting raised due to glycerol contamination.

What year is the car? The more information you give........

Need to get codes read when it is happening, prob a sensor.

Thanks for all of your responses...

It is a 2006 W211 320CDi V6.

It feels like it is misfiring from idle to about 2500rpm and after that it is ok... is it an EGR valve?? Do these engines have an EGR valve??

Do I need to get it booked in at Mercedes for a code read or can I just pop in tomorrow?

Nothing really sticks out and my car is the start of the facelift version.....

Its now done nearly 12k from its last service but is still showing 5k left to its next service... is it something to do with the DPF or fuel filter.... ??

check your engine mounts my leak off pipes were bad deisel dripped down and rotted the mount

It definately feels like an engine misfire or like fuel isnt flowing to the engine at low revs...

Car is booked in at the steelers tomorrow in Swansea. Drove back from Hastings which is nearly 265miles and car ran ok but still judderred at low revs but over 2000rpm was ok. On the run, car had very little power below 2000rpm...

Will let you all know how I get on tomorrow but I'm hoping it is just a sensor!

Well have had car checked out and the bill to fix is w whopping £1077!

The main things are:

- oxy sensor for lambda control upstream from catalytic converter replace. Sensor costs £192 plus VAT. Part number: MA003 542 70 18
- exhaust back pressure sensor replace. Parts are £36.70. Part number: MA 007 153 43 28
- actuator motor for intake shutoff valve replace. Costs £151. Part number : MA 642 150 04 94

The rest is all labour and a glow plug to be replaced.

Not happy with the above but what amazed me was that the guy who looked at it, didn't even look underneath the bonnet! Plus also got charged £58 for the pleasure of having the car plugged upto star!

Any views on the above prices?

Common things that you will save a fortune by going to a good Mercedes independent.

I would guess the cause of your issue is the lambda sensor but the others must have come up as "current faults" so you may as well get them sorted too.

Thanks for the reply.

If the parts are about £500 and the rest is labour, how much am I realistically going to save by going to an indy?

bout £300

Geez.... That's quite a lot!

I'm assuming that when the guy told me that they had to remove the turbo and manifold, he was talking tripe! Hate dealers!!

No he was telling the truth. The intake port shut off motor is not a two minute job. The labour you were quoted was nearly all the replacement of the intake motor. O2 sensor takes five mins. Back pressure sensor around the same. Intake motor a good couple of hours.

Are there any guides to changing the O2 sensor and back pressure sensor myself? I'm assuming that it is the O2 sensor that is causing me the problems.

By the way, what does the intake motor do and what would the symptoms be of this failing?
