Hi all. I am new to this forum and wondering if someone can help. I’m not the most knowledgable person with cars to begin with.

So I have a A200 1.6l petrol.

The engine light appeared during last week so booked it in with Mercedes. They did the diagnostics and repair. On the sheet they provided, it says the following;
“Amber EML on dash, Carrie shot investigation, found fault code for turbo boost pressure. Found boost pressure pipe split, repaired, tested and all ok”

First of all, what is this pipe and what effect could it have had on the car? Would I have noticed it was harder to accelerate or get up to speed? Could it have done any other damage?

Thank you all

It depends on which boost pipe was split but it would be causing lots of sensors to get incorrect values and lose turbo pressure and power overall. How long was it like that before going into the garage? Car would have probably been in limp mode to protect itself from damage.

Honestly, I felt the car lose power a few months back, took it in and they didn’t find anything. Engine light was on for 3 days before I took it in and they found the fault. Doesn’t say on the printout which pipe it was though
