On Wednesday We (LastMinute and I) intend to change the engine wiring loom on my E220. Is there any mileage to be gained by doing a HowTo? Should we or shouldn't we?

Yeah a HOW TO! would be good...
Why are you changing it, did the smaller engined cars have loom problems too??

Well, yes I'd be interested in a write up.
It's beginning to dawn on me that Mercedes wiring in general
is some way short of the quality found in the likes of BMW.
Not the connectors but a cheaper grade of wire, insulator and less thought in
avoiding engine hotspots than might be expected.

The reason why I am changing it is that when I was fitting a new maf sensor and started the engine the loom to the maf burst into flames. Upon further inspection I found that the majority of the loom was cracking, sooooooo bit the bullet, speak nicely to a forum member, got loom today, little bit of soldering to do and loom fitted on Wednesday. (Also got to change the inlet manifold gasket, might as well do the pair together).
