Car
Mercedes E-Class Avantgarde 2003
I've bought a car last friday from auction and I've been having all the problems of the world. The car engine was extremely powerful and it pulls really well. However on day 3rd I was driving back and it was reserve fuel:doh: I was driving fast at that time and car suddenly lost power and the moment i realised service needed. So next day went to Kwikfit and got full service done but the car is not like it was how i bought:wallbash: I think problem is something went in the injector from the reserve. It just loses power suddenly and when i shift it to lower gear to gain some power it revs high. The fuel is going so quick and I'm scared from this car it will eat my all salary :(
I put it today diesel injector cleaner and looking to drive on a long way but scared it will let me down on motorway.
However I found that when i switch off the engine and turn back on the car pulls fine for sometimes and then again power loss. Please help me!!! Is it something big i'm looking for :(

What car is it?

You need to get it plugged in. Have a look at the "sticky" thread at the top of the engine section.

Could be engine- could be transmission. A gearbox problem would possibly cause the car to go into limp home mode. Best get the fault codes read on a proper MB star setup as Olly suggests.

Sorry for not mentioning which car, its e class, 220 CDI manual diesel. The car was working fine for first two days then it started to do that. I'm gonna look for Mercedes gonna get it checked as its getting on my nerves and fear for bigger fault. However everytime i lose power, i quickly switch off and then turn on and car automatically starts with full power. Its not a perfect solution and i'm scared i will end up with something else problem

If its got a manual box its not the transmission.

I just had my car check with my local mechanic with his handheld device. Boy there were loads of errors coming and I'm in deep end. He told me your turbo is not kicking in that's why your car loses power sometimes. So he told me to take the car to mercedes and they will tell you exactly how much you need to spend etc. My turn towards Mercedes didn't turn out very well. I was better off with my VW Passat :'(

Unfortunately it's always a problem buying prestige cars at auction. They're often cheap but end up there usually with expensive problems.

Once you have a proper diagnosis from a STAR machine you can decide how to go forward.

Its really a shame but finger crossed. Today what the mechanic showed me was not good at all. I was told some fuses/battery gone when i bought it but horrors just started.
