Engine swap from CLK 230 to C230?

Engine swap CLK 230 to C230? - I have engine No.s!

I have a 1999 C230K sport estate and the engine has given up, total loss of compression on 2 cylinders, I have seen a 230K engine on Ebay from a 2000 CLK with only 50k on the clock.

As the CLK was based on the C class and the photo shows it is pre-facelift (and the same as mine) is it likely to work with the same wiring loom?.

I love the car to bits (you know how it is) and I want to see it on the road again. I have an able mechanic standing by but I need to know if its compatible.

What part of the engine number (on both) do I need to confirm this?

QUICK UPDATE - MY ENGINE NUMBER IS 111975220171119 OTHER ENGINE IS 11198232013860 - ANY HELP?

Jerry the engines are the same size, however you may need to change the ECU. AFAIK the engine looms will be compatible.

The CLK engine is a M111 EVO engine, so a different unit in many ways to what you have, unless it's particually cheap, you'd be better off finding another early engine - SLKs CLKs W202s and fitting that in one lump.

Save alot of swapping over of parts...
