EQC Range problem or is it me......

Indeed. It gets better, though.

His firm has to use diesel-powered generators 24x7 on their sites to power pumping and filtering equipment as invariably there isn't grid power at the locations. In aggregate they burn around 3,000 litres of "red" diesel a week doing that, but as of 1st April they have to use "white" diesel due to changed government regulations, adding around £1,800 per week to their costs. Guess who's going to be paying for that (clue: it won't be his firm)?

IIRC this is to 'encourage' companies to move away from diesel power for emissions etc. reasons, although I'm not sure what alternatives are available/practical right now. I think red diesel use continues for agriculture ... it's mainly the construction industry that's being targeted. As a tractor owner I ought to know  but I've used white diesel so far anyway as I don't get through much!

You're correct about the stated aim, but there aren't any viable alternatives (for his firm and most others) so it just increases HMRC's take and adds to the cost of jobs. Another example of the lack of joined-up thinking that characterises so many of the "green" initiatives.

You're lucky, I'm getting 240 to 270 KM on city drives. Never tried long runs on the highway, scarcity of chargers. I'm residing close to the equator so maybe the battery does not love the heat. AC is always on, I've left the regen brakes on default setting since braking is critical here, traffic laws aree very relaxed motorist overtake at will, motorcyclists and tuktuk are worst.
I was promised 350 KM, I'm no where close to that figure. In fact I charge when it's in between 40 to 50% battery until full.

My concern are other than what you have listed. This thing drives very strange, very wobbly in corners, and visibility is not the best. The ride is very similar to the W221 airmatic.

Now I'm regretting, why I avoided the A35 AMG sedan (not hatch). It was priced at 75K GPB after taxes, much more frugal than the eqc400 price wise.

My dealer has no service interval for the electric motors, I have taken an extra maintenance packages and additional warranty. Does you dealership have anything in regards to electric motors maintenance? I have the 8 year battery warranty by default.

All I was told was this car required, coolant, ac gas (when necessary), brake fluid, and brake pads. Is that all your UK dealer has as well?

There is a seperate EQ forum for mercedes by another group, try it out. I had some luck there in getting the tailgate issue looked in to. MBEQclub. It's strange how you don't have the tail gate issue listed here.
Just been quoted £298 inc vat for my first EQC400 service.

Can you elaborate on the tailgate issue I've had mine a year now and don't "appear" to have any problems???

Remote is very sensitive, at times the hatch unlocks itself. Another thing that happens frequently is while cleaning it, the hatch unlocks. For these reasons I have to keep the keys away while washing, and I'm storing the keys in a large wallet to avoid activating the tail open function.

What is included in your service? Please ask the dealer if the motor requires any sort of lubricant now or down the line after 50K to 100K KM.

Not had this problem with the EQC but strangely enough did have with my E Class Estate, I think its mainly down to how you store your keys tight jeans etc can press buttons.

Thank you Boris. Even your list does not include anything regarding the motor lubrication. For me the battery cells are checked as well, and guaranteed to be replaced under the long term warranty as packs if required.

But strange how a motor would never need any lubrication, even in the long run?

The sensor under the rear bumper is sensitive, only car we have with this tech, so if i have the keys it pops the trunk. I'm getting used to it. This remote is also sensitive compared to the other remotes we have and with the wallet and things buttons get activated.

Yours might need looking at I've had no problems at all and find the under bumper sensor exactly the opposite I can never find the damn thing

Well over the last week or so since the weather has warmed up a bit, this morning after full charge mine showed 212 mile range so getting back to normal, I'm guessing its the weather that's making the big difference its parked outside all night and we've had some -6 temperatures up here.

Dunno how he works that out! I charge at 5p per KW he must be working it out from 30p per kw chargers on the motorways.
5p!!......you have not looked at you bill for a while I think. The official UK average as of April 2022 will be 28p per kwh! Last year it was 17p....still way over 5p.

Not with Octopus, I'm on a fixed contract until March next year, and I pay 5p inc vat between 00.30 hours and 04.30 hours. Which is when I charge my car, however I'm moving house on 1st April and thought I'd be able to take my contract with me I cant, I think it goes up to £0.8p over night on my new contract.

Do the math. Will your daytime rate (and standing charge) rocket considerably when you move/change tariff. I've seen a lot of EV tariffs have a super low charge rate but the normal rate is ridiculously inflated to compensate.

My standing charge is higher and the basic rate is higher on the new contract, but no higher than other people I've spoken to locally about it, So I'm not being hung out to dry for having a cheap overnight rate, but on saying that the car will be a big energy user compared with the rest of the house.

I've just checked my current rate is 14.99p per kw standard rate and 5p per kw cheap rate overnight, with a standing charge of 26.59p per day. My new one is, 7.5p overnight, 29.64p standard rate and a standing charge of 26.45p

The new house has no gas, as my current house has for central heating, just air source heat pump ands solar panels with batteries; so there is no way I'm going to have any idea of the actual costs until I move.

Twill be interesting
