Error code reader.

Can I get the error codes out of my car without access to a real star machine? Nothing clever, just read codes.

Ebay seems to have dozens of readers, but are they any good?

The ones on ebay will be generic OBDII readers.

They will read general engine code faults, eg cylinder misfires, faults on sensors etc.

They will not be able to read/clear airbag faults/ abs / traction control etc.

For the price they are not bad but as I said they wont be able to read/clear all of the codes available to a star system

The Autel MaxiDiag EU702 will read and reset MB-specific codes e.g. SRS/Airbags, ABS/ESP, etc, in addition to the standard engine/transmission OBDII codes, but obviously it isn't MB STAR. Also it was never updated so still sold with software that only recognises MB cars built before 2008. But I am happy with it. It costs £150-£200.

Just looking for a scanner m'self. Does this read the ASSYST on-board service data for items like filters and allow me to reset those items I choose to do myself?

Says it's £100 ish which seems good if it does this too?!
