Can someone help please on my CLK 320 (2001) ...my ESP light (Yellow triangle on dashboard) is flashing up quite a bit at the mo - but worringly, quite often when I am cruising in a straight line on the motorway. When it flashes, the cruise control disengages but I can reset immediately afterwards. I have also had a "Check BAS/Check ESP/Check ABS visit workshop warnings in the last few weeks - i cant engage cruise control when this message is displayed, but a simple restart seems to cure it.
and the second problem is Oil - i had major issues with the car and the "check oil level" warning. About three weeks ago, I checked the dipstick and the level was pretty low - a litre of oil seems to get the dipstick up to "max" however, yesterday - the check oil level warning came on. Again, checked dipstick and level was low - another litre of oil needed to fill it up. Surely this cant be right......anyone got any ideas before I have to takle it back for the 6th time to the stealer.

the first problem sounds like the brake swith mounted by the pedal...
the second, are there any signs of leaks? if not the problem could be serious...

look at the ground where you park the car - for signs of drips, check around the oil filter and sump nut for signs of leaks aswell.

Possible low voltage might be causing some problems with the cars systems. How old is your battery? This colder weather-wipers on , heater fan, heated back window, lights etc tend to show this up. Could be a faulty OVP relay if your car has one? Oil is a difficult one,-- level will vary cold to hot engine or if the engine is just stopped. Check it cold before starting engine or as recommended in the handbook. Its important to be consistent in how you measure the level. I'm not questioning your observation just a couple of suggestions ,since all these "faults "could be electrical in origin.

V6 engines are known to like a drink so excessive consumption is not unusual.
If the problem is caused by bore glazing then sometimes a fix can be had by replacing the oil with a lower grade of oil and running the car for a couple of months. This allows the rings to seat properly again and stops the consumption.
After refill with the correct oil again.

There may also be wear and tear on your ABS sensor wires at the calipers.

Once there is a fault in the ABS wiring then you may experience failure in the ESP system.

You would need to have a diagnostics report to see where the error code is stored.

if it's leaking that much you'd not have to look very hard to spot it!!! Is a leak not serious?
