Mercedes C220 CDI
Hi,

I cant seem to get to the bottom of an issue ive been having with my C220 CDI. When im driving if i put my foot down on the gas the ESP warning light comes on saying 'ESP Unavailable' and the car goes into limp mode. I have to reset the car by turning the ignition off and on about 4 times for it to clear. Once i have done this, it seems to run fine until it feels like doing it again. This seems to happen maybe 1 out of 10 times i use the car and it seems to happen mostly when im on the motorway/freeway.

1 Garage said that it could be the injectors. Another garage said i need to change the fuel rail. Both have put it onto a computer. But i dont see the link between the fuel rail/injectors and he ESP system.

Any ideas would help or if you have had the same problem and got it fixed would love to know what was up

Yes I'd agree it's probably nothing to do with injectors etc. What did they plug it into? Really needs to go on mercedes star. I am sure some one will be along shortly with more of an idea. Sounds like a speed sensor maybe .

This is one of the warnings that has a number of answers or possible faults,it is best if you take the car to a independent mercedes garage and get a star on it,some of the causes could be a wheel sensor,or the footbrake, best get it on a star, post where you are and somebody will give you the best garage to use.

^this.

My C55 would do as you describe every single time I went over a certain section of road (a slight rise in the road) That turned out be a rear wheel sensor (cheap fix). It showed up on STAR immediately. Worth the money saved in speculating on parts.

Thank you all for the advise. Im not sure if it was a star machine that was used.

I'am based in Cardiff, Wales.... Can anyone recommend a good independent Mercedes garage please?
