esp warning

Cls350cdi in palladium,C200k in tenorite,Slk320 in red.
Had a weird occurance earlier today,popped out & was parked for 5 minutes whilst getting the papers & on restarting the car the yellow esp triangle illuminated & 2 messages appeared-esp inoperable & tyre pressure monitor inoperable,drove home & after about an hour decided to go back out in the car to see if there was any change & to my suprise both messages had cleared & esp worked ok:crazy:,could it be there was a temporary glitch with a sensor or am i likely to experience further related problems?(any help would be much appreciated).
 
I too have experienced this. You are not alone. It happened once and never re-appeared. That was over a year ago.
 
These spurious warnings can be due to lower than ideal battery voltage. That was the problem for me, ESP and ABS warnings, new battery and all gone.

Hi,low battery voltage came up when i did a forum search before starting this thread,i will keep an eye on it & hopefully the message(s) won't reappear(car is less than 4 years old so hopefully the battery doesn't need replacing yet),
 
Haynes joke book 4780 for W203 states :-
If the battery is below 12.2V then it is discharged, whilst a reading between 12.2V and 12.4V is partially charged.

Specification page 5A-1 states battery charge condition is
poor = 12.5V
normal = 12.6V
good = 12.8V i.e. as new

i.e. this is the voltage it able to hold after it has been charged by normal running, as in before you start it up in the morning.

A "12V" lead acid battery has 6 cells at a nominal 2.14V each = 12.8V
Whilst charging requires 2.4V per cell i.e. about 14.4Vdc from the alternator

Check battery volts with accurate +/-0.05V DVMM ?
Check cell acid levels and add demin ?
Possible intermittent drop due to short start/stop journey ?

MB electronics are fussy, I have found they don't like to go below 12.4V - 12.5V.
This would happily spin up the engine and would be considered good in an olde motor.

The fault appeared on restart after stopping/switching off for 5 minutes after a 12 mile drive so the possible intermittent drop theory could be correct.
