Euro look tyres

I do like the stretched look tbh. I have some borbet As 9 inch deep dished wheels and I think they would benefit from a slighty stretched tyre I wouldn't go crazy dangerous as I'm not stupid and do love my sec and do drive it with spirit.

not a fan, but that depends on your taste.

Photo above is indeed a W126 but can't say from the photos if just an SE or SEL.

its a 560 SEL in the photo. I just used that photo just to give an example of how big wheels would look on a W126, regardless of being a SEC, SEL or an SE.

Stretched tyres look awsome.I've got 255/35/20 on a 9.5J rim - bit of stretch on a S500.
Was reading thru posts - funny how many haters around.Calling Europeans do this that Uk is not in Europe? Uk motor scene schould take an example from Germans for example - master tuners, impressive taste for car apeariance.
One post about insurance assesor - are we driving to enjoy or write off cars ???
Of course its a matter of taste so why don't we leave the NO comments for ourselfs and get this thread interesting with pics tyre sizes etc???

I have a very slight stretch on mines, two reasons..

Main reason for having the little stretch was so i have a side wall slant to clear my arches. This was combined with having the lips rolled to which i get no rubbing at all even with a full house.

second, it gives the wheel a much nicer look. In my particular scenario 225/40 woudn't have dove me any favours as my car is lowered. It would have been a shambles + the 225/40 in my opinion on 18x8 AMG mono's on a 124 drown the wheels...

..perfectly fine in looks for a w210 or a CLK with those tyres as the arches compliment the wheels and tyres perfectly. On the 124 its a different story as the arches aren't round.

I have a 215/40 and to be honest im actually ok feeling wise with the ride, i was expecting an earthquake of a ride. Just need to get my bilstein and H&R's under there then i'll be happy.

Billy that strech looks good. i have gone for a similar strech on mine as well. running 215.40.18s on the front with 235.40.18.

non related - how did you get that low on the front. trying to do mine at the moment without much joy.

changed my shim pads to one nib up front and 3 nibs rear..

my previous setup was 3 nib at the front and 2 at the rear!?

shims are what the spings on the car sit into. The nibs describe the height. 1= thin 4= thick

so on fronts you can get shim pads max up to 4 thickness and rear up 3 thickness.

I think they look totally silly. My brother loves them, but I just cant understand it.

it was the only way i could have got the wheels to fit and make the car drivable! w/o doing some serious fender work. So the strectch was a way to go, even though i wasnt to keen at first, its grown on me. but thats about the maximum i'll ever do.

To be fair Billy, that's not really stretched from what I can see in the pic. An 8" wheel is nominally 203mm wide, so a 215 tyre should be perfectly acceptable.

If you think about the 3piece 10Jx17 rear, AMG specced a 265 tyre on what is effectively a 255mm wheel.

it does get a bit silly when they do get much more then that. seen alot on the vw cars. just waiting for them to pop off!

agreed, but when compared to a 225/40 on an 18x8 you wont see the lip sitcking out, ill have protection from the rubber. But with my 215/45 the rims are going to see the kerb first.

Indeed, although to be honest a 225 isn't really going to save them either. It's only when you get up to 245 on an 8J that you start to have the rim recessed enough to ensure rubber contact first.

wasnt referring to your car, yours are fine, its the rubber band brigade im talking about.

Tastes vary I guess, but IMHO I think it looks bloody awful
