Indeed, although to be honest a 225 isn't really going to save them either. It's only when you get up to 245 on an 8J that you start to have the rim recessed enough to ensure rubber contact first.
The OEM fitting on a 210's 8J front is 235/40 (a 245 will not fit the rolled arch) and I can assure it does not protect the wheel rim.
The 9J rear takes a 265/35. Both have the same rim to tyre wall appearance. The low profile ensures that you will damage both side wall and rim if you kerb it.
