A238 E-class 400d coupe 2023, My tyres were worn out on the outer edges down to the steel on the inside edge, Michelin run flat pilots(acoustic) 245/30/20's my wheels are also damaged after just 12000 miles tyre garage said something is wrong, booked it in for service, steering etc all given the OK then I noticed the pressures are all wrong.. MB have been useless and this is dangerous.1745413242030.png

You mean the tyres they were set at the wrong pressure ?

I would imagine the kpa figures are correct.

kpa x 0.145 = pressure in psi

48 psi with RF 30 profile tyres , that sounds uncomfortable without even being in the vehicle.

No wonder the wheels are damaged.

K

I think the main issue is that the psi figures don’t vary with the kpa figures

OK, but what was the actual air pressure value in the worn-out tyres?

TPMS reported 37psi from new 12000 miles and this is the result.

Ouch! 😱

That looks real nasty and lucky escape there I'm thinking, sorry to hear about the expense of new tyres and the damaged wheels too, but thank goodness you found the issue early, as it doesn't bear thinking about what might have happened ... time to count your blessing if you look at it that way perhaps.

Mercedes have suggested the sticker has been replaced which is bollocks of course..

Sorry to read about your frustration. How many of the tyres wore like this and where in the car were they? Also, what’s the damage to the wheels?

I rarely get 12,000 miles out if any of my tyres....you need to try harder! Upping the pressures is likely to damage your wheels rather more... not less.
20 inch rims, very low profile tyes, UK potholed roads.....I'd say eventual wheel damage is inevitable. The previous owner of my car had it's front 18 inch wheels straightened twice according to the bills that came with the car....no cracks yet though.

On the back of this thread I went out to see what my Mercs instructions were like, never looked that close before and never notice the bits circled

Just as well I always inflate them when they are cold anyway right?

I agree , how can 250 , 270 , 280 , 300 and 330 Kpa ALL be 38 psi. ??

Might be worth running the part number printed on that label , it's the one that begins with 'A' . Very odd.
