03 c200 coupe
Hi everyone

I hope I am putting this in the right place

About 5 months ago i bought an 03 c200 1.8k coupe (auto), overall I am very pleased with the car, its not the quickest off the line but the compressor engine is very willing and pulls like train, the car has only covered 70000 and has a full history

Recently I have noticed the exhaust manifold is blowing, its coming from the manifold towards the radiator end of the engine if that makes sense.

I have had a look on the net and eBay has a fair few second hand manifolds but I am nervous of taking this route as the replacement could also crack and as I am not able to do the work myself so labour costs are a factor

I approached my local mercy dealer and was quoted £430 and stainless seem to be about the same money which unfortunately with the labour costs is out of my budget range, I have seen a new unit from RSJ eurauto which comes as manifold and cat for £299, have any forum members had any experience with this part / supplier or do any forum members know of other suppliers that are trusted by forum members

Repairing the manifold in Cornwall doesn't seem to be a realistic option so your advise would be very welcome

Cheers

Ralph

more than likely the manifold bolts have snapped. this makes the manifold gasket loose and the likely cause of your manifold blow. manifolds are cast iron and unlikely to be cracked.

you would still need to remove the manifold to change the studs/gasket. so if you did this, you'd confirm the manifold is busted or not.

Mine cracked:(. £45 to reweld, a lot more in labour ,studs and gaskets.

Many thanks for the replies guys, looks like I may have to get my local garage to get the manifold off and see what is what
