F1 2019

Well looks like the prancing horse has wound their engines up to high,a disaster in qualifying.

Qualifying should be interesting. FP3 showed Mercedes way off the pace, Leclerc and Vettel split by Max. MAG is up there too!

Yep, Mercedes waaaaay off the pace. Good job they had Lewis....

Well that was unexpected! Lewis definitely pulled everything out of the bag. Even if LeClerc was there, it would have been close!

The German GP is forecast for rain although I'm not sure when the web cams become live.

Webcam & Weather - Hockenheimring

With MV in 2nd and both Ferraris away from the front rows I'm hoping it'll make a good race. I'm sure I read or heard somewhere yesterday that LH was feeling a bit poorly and I'm also pretty sure Max won't care and will go for 1st as soon as possible. It'll also be interesting to see how Gasly performs too.

Well it is wet and nasty I suppose this is a advantage to both the drivers on the front row but with LH nursing a cold/flu I expect that MV to lead and may well win,I suppose people will be wondering how far SV can get up the field,my gut feeling is in the rain he has less chance than in the dry, this track is tight I wonder in the wet just how many cars will be left at the end.

Given we have mixed up grid, mixed up weather conditions, very few of the drivers having made a wet start with these current cars, Lewis under weather health wise, Ferrari having the underlying dry pace......
The only thing we can expect is the unexpected

Yep! Lewis maintains his Championship lead and no new winner....o_O

And he may still score points if the Alfas are penalised for their start procedure

Just some detail so people know where all the "offs "were. ;) courtesy of Image taken on April 29, 2018, by a Planet Labs SkySat satellite.

^^^ As far as I can decode, the Alfas were penalised because their clutch engagement at the start wasn't entirely dependent on driver input. Alfa said they will appeal.

Alfa have just found out there is no such thing as a free launch.....

'The torque in the clutch at the start did not match the torque demand as the driver released the clutch within the specified 70 millisecond maximum period.'
'In the case of both cars of Alfa Romeo Racing, the time that it took for the torque to align with the torque demand was close to 200 milliseconds and 300 milliseconds respectively,'

Well for the first time complete and utter shambles in the MB pit, peole being knocked over nobody knowing what wheels to put on,a complete nonsense, the only good news is that the result means nothing for the championship,Wolf today said the prancing horse had lost the plot well in this race he and his merry band also lost it,the race was weirdly boring so many yellow flags and safety cars along with a crazy number of tyre changes actyally for me made it a turn off.

It certainly was a shambles for Mercedes. You have to finish a race to get in the points. With a commanding lead in the championship, someone like Lauda or Alain Prost (Le Professeur) would have raced tactically and would not have pushed so hard just as long as they finished with a useful points tally.

Was one of the most interesting gpx I’ve watched in a long time , Hamilton not getting any points too then to be moved into the top ten was just the way the whole race went yesterday !!!!

I got the impression seeing VB interviewed post race that he would have played it more conservatively but was told to push - with the obvious consequence. If his shunt, ends his time at Mercedes (though the media are perhaps a little too keen to rush to this judgement) then he has reason to feel aggrieved.
Seems that LH has the clout to play it as he sees fit but VB must slavishly do as told even if the outcome is poor. This I guess is what LH's (earned) status is worth.

Mercedes don't do anything by halves do they? When they drop the ball (LH's pitstop), they sure do it with a monster thud.

What's the betting Mercedes will have noses for both cars immediately to hand from the next race onwards?

Hexed by the special livery for the 2019 German GP?
