OK, so this season is over and done with. FIA are bringing some changes in next year but what would you change to make it a bit more interesting??

For me i would like to see a point scoring system for qualifying aswell as the race. The higher you qualify the more points you get,BUT, if you are fastest then you start from the back of the grid so the slowest are at the front!!

Your thoughts.........

Smacks of Stock car racing! :(

F1 = fastest at the front, first past the chequered flag the winner. :)

Get rid of chicanes

Engines must go 4 races

Active suspension

Active aero packages

Simplified rules which everyone is aware of, so there are no damaging, biased decisions made AFTER a race.

Eddie Irvine, Eddie Jordan, Johnny Herbert, Murray Walker and Martin Brundle all commentating.

And Martin also has to do a half-hour grid walk.

Reduced downforce to allow the cars to race against each other again.
NO pit stops so if they want to pass someone they have to do it on the track.

firstly, F1 will be improved 8million % by not having James Allen.

Then, leave the rules alone and use Bernies win system for the drivers championship. That would mean this year, Massa would have it. He won the most races.

The points can go to those teams who enter more than 1 car. If you want to attract manufacturers, you need to have something they will show case. F1 is meant to be the pinnicle of Motorsport, so it has to be the most technological as well as the best sporting event.

To keep the other teams on the grid, do like they did with the tyre manufacturer a few years back. Insist they must suply 60% of the teams irrespective of those who are directly sponsored.

What I still don't get is, the race is 305km or 2 hours. So why refuel and change tyres to complete that distance? They don't change drivers do they? First 1 to the flag wins.
First 1 to the flag more times than the others wins the championship. (if 2 drivers have same, then one with more 2nds and so on until a ferrari, sorry, driver emerges as clear winner)
team that has most points wins constructors and gets paid most due to winning most. (equate each point eaxactly to the share of the TV, ad, and circuit gate receipts. the better a team does, the more it wins.)

I think that is a meritocracy.

Better than this namby pamby, I am a back marker teams with no money and I want the same as the top teams as I put in the same show, cack they come out with.

The US wins loads of Olympic golds as it invests in its countries facilities. others don't but every now and again, someone else wins. The best will always win if you give them the chance.

same rules, same chances, you chose how to make the most of it.

And fire Max.

Yes, sort of. No refueling - its dangerous and might just mean that there is some benefit to being the most economical vehicle. But use as many set of tyres as you like.

I agree with Gucci ...define the rules -- and stick to them. Penalties to be in the rules not a "stick your finger in the air and get Ferrari to win" approach.

.

Did he ? I thought that was determined after one of the races.

I wonder how fast the laptimes would be if they had no rules big engins turbos wide low profile tyres etc

In fairness, overall, i think this year has been pretty good. I've certainly watched it more than I have for years, there have beeen a much broader spread of cars/manufacturers/drivers racing for the top 5-6 places with not just McLaren and Ferrari winning every time. Certainly there are many things that "could" be changed and with the current climate tending towards more economical cars and all that guff the next few years will certainly be .... interesting.

I wonder how long it will be before someone comes up with a diesel F1 car ;).

Saaaay.... there's an idea. Perhaps call the first driver past the checkered flag the winner.

I'm still livid about Spa.

Actually, having no refuelling allowed and fuel limited to current capacity would probably liven things up somewhat. Downforce creates lots of drag which requires lots of power and therefore fuel. Limit the fuel and you limit the downforce. Combine that with a ban on carbon brakes to increase braking distances and the racing should be much more entertaining.

Oh, and get rid of Max ;)

Unless they bring back turbos in F1 or make exceptions for diesels,as a diesel without a turbo is pretty useless
