Fake Exhaust Tips on C200?

I'm on the market for a new W205 so just doing a lot of reading before I put some money down. I have a question for the UK members in here that have a petrol AMG trim C200 W204. Are your exhaust tips active?

I saw something interesting on YouTube, the owner of the C200 was showing the underside of his car and it looks like the exhaust tips on his car are 'fake' in-so-much that they don't actually connect to the exhaust, with the actual exhaust pointing downwards?

Is this due to a trim level/options or is that how they are for all C200s? I'd be interested in the answer... Any C200 petrol drivers in the UK have a picture of the underside - or can confirm if the UK models are like this?

BTW, this guy has some really good videos on the W205 and shows all the features. It's great if you want to get to know more about the car while it's being built or before ordering.

Tell me where in that video you saw any exhaust tips except the ones pointing down?

If the tips are visible...they are working items. Not all models will have visible exhaust tips. Do a Google search for W205 and click on "images".

Yes the car in the video has a downwards facing exhaust but the outside of the car has a faux vanity plate that make it look like the car has twin exhausts. So those would be the 'fake' exhaust tips on the back of the car.

That however is a European model and there may be differences in the C200 for the UK such that the twin exhausts on the back are active.

To answer your edit: I have already. I've asked another MB forum who have been helpful but I thought some UK members may be able to answer, and would save me a trip to the dealer this weekend.

Where is this "faux vanity plate"?

Have a look on the Mercedes site. It shows active exhaust tips. Those without active tips have a one piece chrome trim across the back.

If I was contemplating a new car...I would go to see it in the flesh at the week-end, and have a drive etc etc...what am I missing? Enigma by name and nature?

Thanks for the info on MB site - I wasn't aware it would say there.

I've already seen it in the flesh and also test driven it. This is just a small detail that I wanted to enquire about. Thanks for answering.
