Righty-ho, I've got to replace a couple of my P6000s for my MOT, so have decided to get a new set of boots. Looked on Black Circles and they have an offer on a set of Falken GRB FK 451's at £69.33 each (fitted), they look to have a half decent directional pattern on them and I was wondering if anyone had some advice or experience with these? I had a set of Falkens on my Subaru Legacy, and was quite impressed with them.

I'm planning on fitting 205/55/R16s, would I get any better ride/handling if I fitted a lower profile?

Nah, stick with that size! :) Not sure about the tyre brand/model though, unless you've read some good reviews...

I run the FK451 on my Skyline, 255 40 18's, they are a superb tyre with excellent grip imho.

I had some Falken 512's a model down, but still directional on my Audi 90 (no traction control) and I could floor it and the front wheels (FWD) did not spin even in the wet! Great in the wet and dry, better than Michelin Pilot, Good Year Ventura that I had previously which spun in the wet.

Although perhaps not the top of the stack, performance / value for money wise Falken's are pretty good. - with rim protector too.

I'm getting these fitted tomorrow, so will let people know what I think after I've taken them around a few roundabouts.

Right, after a week or so (and 700 miles), I can report that these are not a bad tyre at all, a huge improvement in terms of grip over the Pirelli P6000s I was running before. My only complaint is a slight increase in road noise at lower speeds, but hardly noticeable at a steady 85mph on the motorway.

For the price they represent excellent value for money.
