I called the AA and after taking down the car reg number said they don't do it.My advice is to get an AA or RAC inspection. You've spent a shed load already but, as you say, it's worth paying to know what's what. If they say it's all good then you can rest easy. If they say you've been screwed you have great ammunition for the tank you'll park on their forecourt.
RAC offered to do the inspection, for 271 quid. Strangely, although I did tell them that most of the work is done on the undercarriage, they say they would come to my address and inspect the car.
I thought you needed a hydraulic lift, to inspect the undercarriage? Unless RAC has some new fancy video equipment?
A cheaper option is to take it for an MOT and ask the guys to have a quick look around? 271 looks pretty steep to me
