I guess trends come and go - cars are no different :o

~ 10 years ago was the era of the 'Lexus' light phenomenon (and neon washer jets?...)

Saw an old 90s Passat today driving towards me sporting what must be the new chavmobile adornment of the future, 'Audi headlights'/daytime LED striplights :D

Coming to a town near you

:D

Were the LED's nice and straight, or were they all over the place?

The ones I see round these parts have been done rather hastily and the lights look a bit carp....

Oh and Neon washer jets and Lexus lights are alive and well in Wiltshire

there is a W202 C class that drives past me in edinburgh with a very small strip (maybe a few inches) of LED where the foglamps usually are.

It actually looks quite good as its not OTT.

not for me though..... i hate all these clear "lexus" lights and hate those blue LED washer jets!

BUT the single worst hate for me on these types of mods are those horrible "rally" style mudflaps people fit - you know the ones, huge big straight square ones - usually orange!

When I had a Lexus, I really, really wanted to go to a Lexus forum and ask "Where can I get some Corsa rear lights for my RX300?"

But I didn't.....

Oh goody!! Maybe I could get a very long strip of LEDs and wrap them right around the leading edge of my bonnet? What d'ya think guys? A new style statement? :D

Lexus themselves dropped that tail lamp style after a couple of years, presumably because they had been over-done by others.

I quite like the idea of LED lamps, for the rear they're obviously useful as are much quicker to light up than traditional incandescents but for the front? Maybe a strip either side, directly under the headlamps or at the bottom of the headlamp but inside the housing. Photoshop work clearly required here!

You could, and for that "hand-crafted" effect do what the Kev's do round here and just randomly drill the LED holes for that wavy line deal :D

BTW if you need a hand with that, just call, as I have finished some Blue Mountain coffee...

I've seen a Bently Conti GT on the A40 with these chav tastic LED strips wrapped around the front bumper vents!! They were not even put on straight.

My '08 Saab convertible has an LED strip, neatly across the top of the headlight and works well - I don't think it looks bling at all. :)

Agreed, the effect can look right...

Especially on the car in your pics and, I think on Audi A3 (facelifts) with the cheeky "fierce" headlights :)

Yup, agree 100%. There's a guy near where I live has run two LED strips around the kidneys of his '99 3 series!! Jeez does it look bad!!

On modern cars I think it looks okay - but only when the strip really does like like one long band of light instead of lots of dots. On older cars, to me it just looks weird. It's a bit like sticking ultra modern alloys on a Triumph Spitfire - it just doesn't work!

I wonder how many other features have been copied to adorn 'lesser' cars and named after the 'original' vehicle ?

eg - 'Lambo doors' as fitted to chav Corsas etc

'Bentley grilles' as fitted to Chrysler 300's

what else ?

Isn't the 'Bentley Grille' a standard fit on those monstrous Chrysler things?
