Fifth gear are looking for an E55 (W211) for filming at Bicester Heritage in about a weeks time and my car was suggested, so I have been contacted. (It's on the other UK forum)
The programme's producer has got in touch after I voiced my concerns at Jason Plato/Tiff Needell giving my car a seeing to for the benefit of viewers.
This is the part of the reply I got today:

"I understand your concern completely. Firstly let me put your mind at rest that Jason / Tiff aren't involved in this item. We're not visiting a track and this is going to be strictly on-the-road shots. We're not going to be idiots with it. At the end of the day we're filming owners pride and joy and every care will be put into ensuring it's driven responsibly. If you're interested in having your car filmed (and it does sound like exactly what we're after) please e-mail me;"

I'm still unsure. It's only a stock E55, nothing special, and its a 225mile round trip on a Friday. Expenses and fuel will be covered.

The guarantees ease my mind that the car would be well treated and its probably a fun day out.
What would you do?

Be warned - I went to Ace Cafe and wasted a day of my life (it was b**tard freezing as well) only to end up on the cutting room floor.

I did get to meet Vicky though (who I've always had a bit of a thing for) so it wasn't a complete washout.. :)

Cheers,

Gaz

It'll be a memorable occasion you can get from your car. They've said they'll look after it. I'm guessing it's a stock and not a "stage 3" daft one that they want. They'll be wanting to show you can buy a nice comfy elegant car for x pounds, etc...

If it’s on Friday 22nd then consider staying overnight and attending the FlyWheel event at Bicester Heritage on the Saturday. It’s an excellent day out.

Mine wasn't standard and nor was it concourse (bonnet needed respraying for VMAX / TV stonechips!) but I'd have let them use mine if they wanted to.

I guess it depends how you feel about your car but for me it was there to be used as is my current steed!

Your one is mint and as already said, I think it would be a great day out.

Another one here who says "Go for it". You won't be out of pocket and Phil's suggestion of making a little holiday out of it seems exactly like my sort of weekend.

I'd come and meet up with you Roger but I'm booked up for the next three weekends unfortunately...

I’d definitely go for it, as already said make a bit more of an event and stay over. Plus you’ll surely be able to have some professional shots or have it on film for ever[emoji1]

Seems the general consensus is go for it. So I have.
E mail sent, so unless someone else has been selected I should hear back soon with details.

Thanks for your thoughts:thumb:

Please be aware that you could be due any further publishing payments/dues and try adding a rider (of your choice) they price these of as expenses, you get nowt if you don't ask:dk:

PS: Let fame go to your head, it may be your 15 Minutes:rock:

Go for it.

It's a Yes from me :thumb:

Another go for it here
YOLO as the kids say

Could be interesting to see how some elements of TV show are put together

They insured though......?

Ps I did the same for Auto Express with my Saab 93 convertible
The driving of it was very limited and in the end only the studio shots were used - it's now immortalised as the used review car on their website

Definitely go for it, as said a day out at their expense, car will be insured by them and it should be an interesting experience. Maybe a lot of hanging about though.

Who is presenter if it is not vBH it TN? They struck me as being good presenters apart from when she squeals like a little girl!
