Hi Guys! Back again we are also having problems with the E320cdi diesel engine running at low temperature at the moment it is running in the low 70% used to be up in the 80%s on reading several Forums on Thermostat problems, We have ordered a new Thermostat from Mercedes Chester on Monday 10th:03:2008 they say thay have none in stock nore do they have any in Germany at the moment, while we are waiting,

Has any one fitted a Thermostat to the E320cdi engine if so does any one have any tips please, also any one know the torque value for the bolts. penboy

Its the same fitting instruction for other engines as well as the 613 thats in you 226 car

You do not need to drain all of the coolant out just enough to be below the level that you are working

Thank you Malcolm you have been very helpfull that is just the job :) all I have to do now is to wait for Mercedes to let us know when the Thermostat is in stock

Hi guys took 10 days to get the thermostat ( £39.39 ) it was a nice day here to day so I had a go changing the thermostat at the same time I changed the antyfreeze as well tip the only thing I had to do was take the oil filter off as well to get the thermostat off dont forget to cover the the hole were the filter gose to keep any muck out Penboy / Paul

I did mine recently during the last cold snap back in January as it had been gradually running colder and colder over a couple of years to the point where it barely got above 40c.

It now runs consistantly at about 85c on the gauge although it is a 92c stat.

If you would car to stick your Email address up for 2 mins I can send you the work sheet
Hi there - My E320 CDI Estate needs a new thermstat - just ordered from Eurocarpart - have you still got the worksheet on how to replace on the car you could send to me ??
Thanks in advance

;)Can you send me the worksheet to replace stat on a E320 CDI auto - just bought from Eurocarpart...
Thanks alot

mate, I'm afraid that you'll have a bit of a wait on your hands. Television hasn't frequented this site for well over a year now. You can probably find him on another forum with a bit of googling.

Euro Car Parts? Why didnt you get it from MB?? Price difference negligable and pukka MB part! I've just done mine, nice and easy!

You'll find Television on what's colloquially known as "the other side" - forums.mercedesclub.org.uk - still busily sending worksheets out left, right and centre.

+1 on the "check with your main dealer" for parts. First get the correct part numbers for the parts you need (eg from the russian site), then use partsreunited.co.uk to see if any MB dealer has what you need going cheap, then phone your local dealer and negociate! Did this yesterday for a thermostat for my W203, available from MB Leicester for £24+VAT+Dely, bought from MB Ashford for £32+VAT (decided it was worth £5 for local purchase in case anyhting goes wrong)!

hi and thanks for the info...... do you think I should try and take the Eurocarparts thermstat back and get the MB one - are Euro parts suspect ??
Cheers

Collected new thermostat today - given a discount without even asking for it, so actual cost £29.52+VAT=£34.69 (instead of £32.80+VAT). Nice one MB Ashford!

Also saw the new E estate in the metal for the first time - one silver, t'other was a beautiful ice blue. Drool - now where's my lottery tickets??
