Car
2x E350 CDI Sport W212s, Golf Mk4 V5.
Anyone got any good recommendations? I have a 2009 w212.

There are loads on eBay of various prices, but would prefer a personal recommendation. eBay needs a better reviewing system, like Amazon.

Cheers

Teddy, do you use them ?
I’ve never touched them in the 350.

Got them standard on my C55, hardly use them even with the dim witted 'speedshift' gearbox it has , AND once- getting into the car- with the wheel turned 90' the pocket of the baggy 'cargo' shorts I was wearing (such a trendsetter , me :p) somehow caught on one of them and tore it clean out of the steering wheel .

Luckily I had a reel of tape in the car and bodged it back on for the remainder of the journey . I actually like the look of them behind the wheel as opposed to the earlier C55's with just the little buttons on the front and small paddles on the back of the wheel, but i don't find them that useful.

Teddy , I think you have done the right thing asking on here , ton's of them for sale on-line and finding ones that will remain stuck in place during freezing and hot days (unless screwed on) is important.

Teddy, have you looked into larger paddles as opposed to stick on extensions? Very easy and quick to change over.

Airbag Off
Just 2 screws per paddle and a little connector plug 🔌

I use mine a lot, especially since the diesel ECU update where the car won't go into 7th until 74mph. So on the motorway I kinda have to use manual, then you slow down and come to junctions etc and I fell into the habit of keeping it in manual/flappy paddle mode instead of switching between manual and auto all the time.

Even before that I'd double tap or hold the left one down to get the car in the best gear for overtaking, or to try to extract some fun on country roads.

For town driving it's auto/comfort/economy, of course.

I'm also going to get a remap and lots of places tweak the gearbox map too now and offer a 'proper' manual mode, so I'll probably use it a lot more in the future too

Thanks for any suggestions you can give! I think I'd go for black but open to silver too!

Sounds expensive! I was just looking for a cheap little interior upgrade as I'm procrastinating today, but open to looking into any options you know of!

Ah, ok. I guess extensions will be much cheaper and money saved can go towards re-map.

Must have hands to match

I use my paddle shift all the time because the engine has enough low down torque to be in the next gear up before the gearbox decides and for engine braking as the front discs are smaller than the rear !

Be sure to get the right shape , there's 2 kinds of mb paddle .
