can anyone help, 6 months ago battary went flat on my 2003 e class
i thought i would invest in a new one which has being fine untill now,
It has now gone flat, Before i take it to a garage is this a common problem
and if so what is causing it to do this,

Have you left the car standing for any length of time? The E Class can run a battery down in a few days no problem.

Otherwise, take it off, give it a good charge and try again.

Any new battery should come with a 2/3/4 years guarantee.

The W211 that runs out of battery power in a few days definitely has a fault, not necessarily a bad battery. It could be the seat control unit but it could be something else too.

When re-charging, a lot of folks forget to top up the cells with de-min. Some batteries are sealed - imo a design flaw. If the top of the plates emerge from the water then sediment will fall down between the plates and partially short them: the self-discharging battery. With heavy-duty batteries, the more plates per cell the better to hold charge longer: so economy batteries are useless. You should be able to re-charge on the car, otherwise you have to re-set everything.
