Unfortunately a similar thing happened to a friend of mine who lives in Ireland. He brought his Polish registered Cougar with him when he moved to Dublin. He got pulled over. His car got confiscated and he had to pay 2000 euros to get it back. He then had to take it out of the country immediately.
I reckon Irish LAPD don't like foreigners... especially those in faster cars than their Mondeos.

Well, I think it's not the whole story... Greece like the UK has too many untaxed,uninsured and non MOT'd foreign cars littering the place.Here the Police don't bother to chase up eastern european cars being used by people working in the UK.
