Formula 1 2025

I'd say that both Doohan and Lawson are getting into their overdraft, which so early in the season is a surprise. They are both under huge pressure and neither (unlike Hadjar) are demonstrating there is performance to come. If they aren't really on it when the chequered flag falls in Japan, I think they are both toast.

Hadjar has driven well thus far this weekend, I hope they don't put him in with Max too soon. Red Bull should have kept Checo for another season. They'll be looking for two drivers next year IMHO, as I think Max will leave unless they can do something special with the car.

Bolted is a bit strong. He left because he wasn't enjoying being at RBR anymore and wanted to distance himself from the toxicity that pervades around Horner/Helmut.
Yeah, but my point is RB had no choice to keep Newey. Where as they (prematurely) booted Albon out the door. (Along with a few others).

Horner et al began to believe their own publicity!

How long before JS and then MS start sniping and unsettling the team further?

Interesting race - so where does that now leave Liam Lawson?
Where does it leave RB ? How many races does he have to pull it all together and into sync to show speed over a complete weekend ? The added pressure at RB is that a driver put into the senior team knows he is being compared to the two drivers in the junior team.

I was astonished when RB resigned Sergio Perez last year. But then I was also surprised that Mercedes held on to Valteri Bottas in his last season with them.

As a team sport this is important. Both RB and MB as teams have undermined themselves and their lead driver and lost championships by making a bad *team* decision on that second driver.

Arguably McLaren made an obvious mistake last year with two very good drivers by not backing the right driver at the right time. My feeling is that McLaren were so focused on this year and next that missed the emerging of the opportunity of a WDC last season. I think that was further reinforced by the expectation that Piastri would naturally emerge as the team leader over this season with Norris in the supporting role. That mindset undermined their approach during last season.

Oops! Somewhat clumsy of Ferrari.

All a bit processional, interspersed with the odd point of interest. Great overtake by Bearman on Gasly into Turn 1 being one of them.
