Formula 1 2025

Interesting qualifying session - but these grass fires are now just very embarrassing!
Yes, titanium skid sparks seem to be lighting up more than the intended tv screens and have a whole new life starting grass fires all around the circuits.
Back in the 70’s and 80’s the normal skid material was brass and gave a whole new meaning to ‘brass rubbings’… but never set anything on fire!
However, that would be far too old school for current F1, cheap, easily machinable and available. No, that would never do!
Presumably F1 will researching sparking, but ignition free unobtainium…

Did Piastri have the pace....?

Not the most entertaining of processions.....
Pastry needs to wind his neck in. Lando out-qualified him and then while he's trying to manage his pace to have advantage over Verstappen in the final laps, he's having to defend against Pastry who didn't have the pace to catch and pass Vercrashem anyway. Great drive by Max building on a truly outstanding lap in qualifying. Dull race though.

Yep the race was won yesterday for sure
Yep, only Lewis managed an overtake in the top ten, but probably because he was out of position from qualifying.

That really was mind blowingly dull. Shame as Suzuka is a great circuit.
Got to give credit to MV for that qualifying lap in an inferior car to the McLarens.
Red Bull (relying on Max to pull it out) sacrificed some grip in the corners for speed on the straights. The McLaren was the quicker car overall, but Max could hold them up in the corners and had the straight line speed to keep ahead down the straights. Had Norris got ahead at the start or following the pit stop*, the race result would have been different.

*driving in lawnmower mode is rarely effective.

I watched the Channel 4 highlights yesterday evening but fell asleep a few laps in at around 20:00 ish. Sounds like the rest of the race was much the same as the few laps I watched, so I’ll not bother with trying to watch it again.
