Formula 1 2025

It does seem very likely to happen. Whoever would have thought it :dk:

At the Nurburgring circuit there is a wall of fame for drivers who have been outstanding at the circuit. In the middle of this is Alex Ribeiro, who won a great race there in 1978. This was my 3rd ever race in motorsport!
In the top left corner is a name you will now know better as part of the Red Bull 'Mafia' This does go to prove he was once very quick as a driver, but not half as quick as he is to dump drivers out of the current Red Bull team:eek:

Bikers as well, seeing Ago’s name up there?

Another win in WRC for Elfyn Evans. Second on the bounce in Kenya Safari Rally and gives him a 36 point lead in the title fight.

Thierry Neuville's gearbox change was like none I've seen before. Mechanic under the car lowered the transmission onto his chest and then two more mechanics took a leg each and pulled him and the gearbox from under the car. Things are done differently in WRC.

I do hope he is made of stern stuff.... Poision chalice doesn't really cover it!
Promoted to the most difficult F1 seat just in time for his home GP, no pressure then!! Who dreams this stuff up? :dk:

So many want the return of the V10.

I remember when I saw the Renault turbo race for the first time back in the late 70's, it was practically silent and disappointing compared to the spine tingling sound of the naturally aspirated cars, so I for one would welcome a return to the V8, V10, V12 and flat 12 engines of that era. Can't see it happening though for the commercial reasons mentioned in the article.

Once in a life time opportunity though.

And if he can manage to get to Q3 - and even more if he can get just a point in the car then - then given circumstances that's as good as a podium in career terms.

I really hope this works out for him.

Thing is - though - RB are now left looking bad whatever. If he does badly - then it's the car and their driver programme. If he does well it means their driver programme and decision making over drivers last year looks very unsound.

Having read the article it does raise some interesting points. I think Andrew Benson normally writes balanced and fair comment.
However, there are a number of 'non facts' in there,

Weight? Yes, the hybrid engines make the cars heavier, largely because of the batteries needed. But the majority of the weight increase from 550kg or so in 2005 to about 800kg now is accounted for by advances in safety, such as the halo head-protection device.

The addition of the safety advances are in the tens of kilos, the hybrid kit, in the hundreds of kilos.

I worked trackside with V12 and V10 engines for decades, my ears are very thankful for the noise reduction, but I know I do not represent Joe Public.

Gutted to see Marc make a simple mistake and bin what looked like a certain win, amusing that his mistake puts his younger brother top of the pile now! ISTR some years ago Marc said watch out for Alex, he's faster than me!!

Even stranger to see him back on a trashed bike with no right foot peg and still battling with other riders.....
He just won't give up!

For those who have not seen FP1 & FP2 from Japan, they didn't get as much track time as they would have liked.
But I don't want to grass on what some have been Doohan....:dk:

Nice to see Liam Lawson in 5th place just behind Lewis in FP2. Ahead of Verstappen too.
Hope he has plenty of success at the sister team and gives proverbial two fingers to Marko and Horner.
