Hi guys

I'm hoping to finalise a deal for a 2003 SL500 tomorrow... :bannana: . Not a done deal yet, but I'm confident my offer will be accepted.

Its got one of those COMAND thingummyjigs in it which does the SatNav, and at has a cradle (but not the handset) for some long since superceded Nokia phone. There's no TV on it though.

Three questions

What the best option for using my BlackBerry Bold 9000 handset in the car?

I want to fully integrate an iPod through the in-car system - by that I mean control the iPod via the steering wheel and view the display on the COMAND screen. Any suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

What will it take and cost to get TV in the car?

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome - go to www.comandonline.co.uk

they sorted my Comand system and Alfie there is the one who can give you good advice..

I think you can add a Viseoo to the cradle and use bluetooth on your phone - Alfie will know if yours is ok or not

Enjoy the car ...and when you get it post some pics:bannana:

Thanks for the advice. If anyone knows anything about sorting the TV out, I'd be grateful to hear from them.

Since I'm a new boy on here, permit me to tell you a little about my history with Mercedes-Benz.

I bought my first Merc, in 1989 - it was a brand-new silver 190E. I can still remember the spec.. metallic silver with blue cloth trim, auto, armrest. Back in those days, you never got any ICE - nor could you get a discount. The best the dealer would do was supply and fit a crappy Blaupunct radio/cassette with the crappiest speakers I ever heard.

Then in 1992 I bought an older car. I went for a 560SEC, 1988 on an E-plate. I put my personalised reg on it and it looked a million dollars. Nautical blue and grey leather; loads of walnut and heated, electric memory seats. Had a decent radio in it which I took out and replace with a multi-CD player. I put the original radio back when I sold the car in 2001. It started out as my main/only car but later when I needed a different type of car, I kept the SEC on as my weekend car. Of all the cars I've ever had - this one has to be my favourite.*

While I had the 560SEC, I had a couple of estates. I bought a 1995 E300 model in 1998, and then replaced in in 2002 with a brand new leased E320 CDI. I couldn't believe how a 3.2 litre diesel could out-accelerate the 5.5 litre V8 which was in the SEC. By the time the lease ran out, times were a bit tougher so I've scaled back a bit since then.

Things have improved somewhat and the present economic climate means that there are some bargains to be had on the bigger cars so I've decided to indulge myself.

All being well, tomorrow I'm going to treat myself to a 2003 SL500 which I'll use as my "best" car.

* Like I said, the 560SEC is my favourite car I've ever had, but I've a feeling that the SL is going to surpass it.

I'll post some photos when I take delivery.

Hello

Enjoy the car, my dad has a 03 SL500 as his weekend fine weather car and it looks and sounds superb. I've only driven it round the block. He has a 03 E320cdi estate as his daily drive and like you has had all sorts of Mecs including a 500sec when they were almost new (D reg one)

Hope you get a nice day for collecting and post some pics..

Hi and welcome. I had a short go in an 03 320cdi of a forum members and he told me to "boot it". my reaction was "F***ing H***". Laugh out loud fast.

These R230 SLs are magic, you'll love it.

Hello and welcome.
I hope you enjoy the car and the forum.

Welcome, I drove a R230 SL500 a couple of weeks ago. They look a million dollars.

Nice to see someone else from the NW!

Welcome!!! Whereabouts in Lancashire?

Watch out for the next NW GTG and maybe see you there. Tend to be the 2nd Wednesday of the month

Welcome - lovely car - enjoy

I've done the deal! Got myself an 03 SL500, 45k miles with FMBSH from an authorised Merc dealer.

He showed me the paperwork - he took it in px late last year at £28k. I bid him in the ********, offered him £20k cash, no swapper, no finance and told him to take it or leave it.

I took out 3 yrs Star Smart for minor bodywork repairs (excess only £25 per incident) on condition he taxed it for 6 months.

I suppose I might have saved a grand had I gone to a non-authorised dealer, or maybe two had I gone privately, but for this kind of car I wanted to peace of mind you get from the official Mercedes-Benz network.

Gonna clear out the garage and take delivery end of next week. Gives me time to sort out insurance.

The last time I was so excited about getting a car was back in '92 when I bought the aforementioned 560SEC.

Photos will be posted on here when I take delivery.

For those enquiring where I am in Lancashire, live in one of the Pendle villages in the north-east of the county.

I'd be delighted to attend local meetings of enthusiasts if my schedule permits.

Welcome, crackin deal, crackin car. GTCs are excellent and now we are getting lighter nights...... even better.
Enjoy next weekend!!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new car :)

I'm also close to Burnley, there are a few of us round here. We get together once a month or so to eat and talk cars.

Yeah, you were blown away by the 320cdi back then... :D
