Free COMAND-APS nav disk upgrade [5.0 -> 5.1]

Theres a note up at my MB dealer saying anyone with comand-aps V5.0 disk can swop it for a 5.1 disk [for E/CLS/SL/SLK/S/CL] if they have bought it this year or got the new car this year [Greenoaks of Bracknell, at the parts counter]

So hurry on down to your local dealer and swop your disks !

Has anyone else managed to get a free upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1? Is there any official bulletin that confirms this? I am going in to my dealership on Wednesday for something else, but am anticipating a blank shrug when I try and switch my 5.0 disc (supplied with at purchase in March). From reading other posts here, it appears that they never upgrade for free (except perhaps when you can prove that a newer version was already released when you took delivery, not true in this case). The ony reason I can imagine for a free warranty upgrade is an official acknowledgement that version 5.0 was "faulty", but I have seen no evidence of that...

Definitely more street locations in Norway.

In my experience it is extremely difficult to spot the extra information that is supplied on newer versions. You really need to be local to a modification to spot the difference.

e.g.
The Mercedes Dealer in town X has now moved to town Y. The M6 toll road took years to appear on an upgrade.

The most significant change for UK owners has been upgrading to version 5 for TMC, but I doubt if French, or German owners were particularly bothered???

Our car is due a service shortly, so I am interested, but not overly so, as at present this is an unconfirmed message which has very kindly been posted by one member!

I have just receivd an official e-mail confirmation from Daimler Chrysler Eruope that those who purchased V5.0 Between Jan and May are entiltled to a free upgrade to V5.1. See below:

Thank you for contacting the DaimlerChrysler Customer Assistance Center on 18th July 2006.

We would like to advise you that providing you have purchased the DVD from a United Kingdom Mercedes-Benz Outlet between January and May 2006, and you still hold the receipt, you can exchange the disc for version 5.1.

Should you have any further requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Mine has been swapped but there seems to be confusion at some of the dealers as to who is/is not eligible).
