I'm getting the ferry from Porstmouth to Le Havre tomorrow night for Le Mans. Can anyone confirm, please, that it will be cheaper to fill up here and not there?

Anyone else going?

Petrol or diesel?

Think you'll find diesel is a little cheaper on the continent but unleaded more expensive than here in Blighty

I live a good deal of my time in France - but I drive a diesel

Petrol is more expensive than diesel in France, (the other way around in the UK)

Also the Supermarkets are 15% cheaper, (our local Super market is Euro 1.24/Litre for Petrol SP95 E10)...........it will be 15%+ more expensive at a "road side" station

Have a look at this site...........put the region in...reasonably self explanatory

Prix des carburants en France, site gouvernemental

The weather is picking up this weekend

Good luck,

Thanks for the quick response. I'd looked at the AA site, but didn't know if anyone has just come back with an update?

It's looking about 8-9% dearer over there, and the forecast isn't brilliant, so the tent may be staying in the 124 estate with me!!!!

Yes, there does seem to be a substantial difference between unleaded and diesel in France compared to the penny or three here - as much as 30p

Thanks, Bill. Rain is forecast for the day we arrive and pitch camp!

Thanks, Bill. Rain is forecast for the day we arrive and pitch camp!

We are in the South West...just had about 10 really hot sunny days, followed by 4 days of intermittent rain, whilst still being hot.........it is expected to pick up here at the weekend

Weekend may be OK in the North

10 day Forecast

here

put the town in

Oh poo, just ignore it, I can't seem to link it properly!!!

prices are a bit different, but tbh, in the scheme of things it's not going to significantly impact on the cost of the trip.

beer is cheaper there, and will have a larger impact...

and yes - going too - out on friday, back monday in my fathers Jag - mainly because both times we've gone out in my CL it's broken down :(

Just back from France

All fuel is more expensive there now than here - even diesel (at least it was near Orly where I was)

PS eating out is sky rocketing as well.

Thanks again for all the feedback! I've just been into town to my friendly Bureau de Change, to find they have gone out of business.

There is a large supermarket close to where we stay (about 8 miles from the track), so the 124 will earn its keep as the supplies wagon.
