I know it's not MB , but it seems cheap , might be fun as a runaround ...

Don't everyone start having a pop at me about this one ..... ;)

seriously - looks like a fairly good buy - could be a good track car. 4 ltr V8:devil: for the thrashing of.

That is a lot of car for the money. Didn't Will have one of these? Mike Brewer got one in the last series of Wheeler Dealers and it looked great when it was finished.

I reckon you could sell the wheels for half of that price :)

Damn! That's really nice, and I'm not being sarcastic either. The next best thing to a Toyota, is another Toyota, or a Lexus..... ;) But how do you get hold of the seller???

Cheers Howard.

You could either join the ReefsUK forum or i could pm you his MSN messenger ID ...;)

It's actually for a friend, he's desperate to get a car. I'll show him it tomorrow and if hes interested I'll be after his addy. Have you got any idea of his general location please?

Thanks Howard. :)

Wisbech in Cambridgeshire ...

I've been in one of those before...amazing luxury, it was silent..shhhhhhh, you can almost hear the engine.

My neighbour is a convert to Lexus LS, he's on his third, a 400 and two 430. Not my cup of tea but they are extremely quiet and appear to be reliable.

I've known Toyota Corolla 1.3 do 250K miles so I don't think 160K on a Lexus 400 is going to be a problem...mind you one of our Techs did 270K in three years in a Peugeot 406 so maybe Lexus aren't everything when it comes to reliability.

It's actually for a friend

Yeah, right....! ;)
(just kidding)

I drove an LS400 for a while, very good car, smooth, quiet, comfortable, well-built, reliable etc etc, but utterly soul-less and uninspiring to drive. It left me cold. Especially when compared to a W126.

Thanks for the heads-up though Howard.

They are a bit of a bargain 'banger' these days. Unfortunately at £900 I'd be reluctanct to spend much money fixing it, which makes me cautious as would anyone else? If anything major went wrong it'd be a scrapper I'd think! :o

They are supremely reliable though, seriously - a great car, just a little bland.

The reason I owned one a few years ago was that it was an aboslutely immaculate example, owned by a millionaire and had been thoroughly cherished. I enjoyed trouble free motoring with it but couldn't keep away from the 3-pointed star ;)

Definately the most reliable and well built car I've ever owned or driven to this day - and that includes brand new ones.

Will

Certainly seems a lot of car for the money, but does the message say 'Sold'

Is that the going rate for that age Lexus with that mileage, if so it is indeed a lot of vehicle for the money.

John

That Auto shifter looks like a Boxing glove :p

No , it's not sold ...

Its on FleaBay now ..... ;)

:) Thanks for that.

Any idea what the SOLD bit referes to? I'm not doubting what your saying, I'm just curious.

Did you get my pm?

John

For that price, if I had need a car, I would have bought it, assuming everything was kosher.

RE :- SOLD

My wife posted this on my behalf earlier (I've been busy all day, drove to Yorkshire in this car and it was faultless as always).

Even with a family member helping out, the car still needs to go. So it's still for sale at £900 ono. A stunning bargain!!!
