Hi,
I have a knocking noise on my 2000 s280 from front off side when going over potholes and (dreaded) speedbumbs.
Having read other posts it sounds like lower ball joint problems or drop links problem.
Can anyone tell me if you need to buy whole wishbone to get these ball joints and drop links for w220 or whether you can buy them both separately.

Any good parts specialists anyone can recommend that would stock these would be of benefit.

Hi, on other cars I have had I have changed the whole wishbone as this is usally easier, and not much more expensive, as you can buy them separate!!
It could also be an anti roll bar bush??

Crikey! Isn't the car too new to already have those sort of problems?

A broken spring or shock sounds like the more obvious cause.

Cheers, Bill.
:)

You can buy the balljoint seperately but will need it pressed out and in.

If the noise is only over broken road surfaces then it's probably the drop links.
To test grip the car by the roof and rock side to side as this stresses the antiroll bar both ways.

Oh no.

This very day I picked my car up from a pre-end of warranty inspection cunningly coupled with an MOT.

All fine and dandy, diesel engine did not explode during the high rpm test and easily got into "fastpass" smoke test perhaps thanks to an Italian tune up beforehand, injector cleaner couple of weeks ago and then a double dose of Millers Power Plus on top of BP Ultimate Diesel.

But, at 2 years 11 months and a mere 24,000 miles, I am now the proud owner of brand new lower ball joints fitted FOC.

(and I have rusty wheel bolts)
