ongoing problem with lights, front nearside dipbeam would flicker on and off. diagnosed as front sam faulty, this was replaced with new unit, £620.00 final bill.bloody hell for a flickering light ?anyway got it back after a week light fine. but now auto llghts come on when its light go off when its dark plus auto wipers are permanantly on timed sweep.is this an easy fix i.e just needs reprogramme or am i likely to lose it for another week. for your info the garage who fitted the new sam reckon they had problems with new sam as it had been pre programmed to american spec and they had to take car to main dealers to have it wiped and english sec put in via internet straight from factory i.e engine and chassis numbers needed to access the chip ?:dk:

was the sam not new?
I would think you have been ripped of with that
why not just fit a new unit and have it coded to your car as it should at MB?

Sounds like it wasn't programmed properly. Sometimes software updates have to be applied when programmimg a SAM. It needs to go back to the dealers but not at your cost as you've already payed. Tell your garage who should take it back for reprogramming. Might be possible they've fitted the wrong unit. Try reprogramming first.

SAM need to be coded to the system yes, also check that your light sensor (which detects is it dark or not) and rain sensor are ok. I read while ago a post where was told that light sensors have gone in couple of time though never heard that before...

sam was new from main dealer.both sensors worked before swap, guess im goint to have to take it back. i know its petty but for that sort of money i want it to be right.

It's not petty at all, you paid someone in good faith to repair your car for you and they haven't, cost isn't the issue but that amount is certainly more incentive to demand what you paid for.
